Light Healer-Pixelart step by step [ENG/ESP]

It's past one in the morning and I've been pushing myself to finish this today (it's tomorrow) to finally focus on a client commission I have to do this week.

Pixelart is always going to have its level of complexity, drawing pixel by pixel is not easy.... like any other artist you have to have some knowledge on shadows, lights, silhouettes that make sense, that the lines are clean... flashbacks of vietnam is not an easy task and it's not like there are tutorials out there about SUPER SPECIFIC things in the amount of pixels you are working on...

I didn't animate This illustration because of the amount of pixels... not because I can't, but because of the amount of time it would take me...

I decided to do my version of the light healer but with a more angelic theme. I think the halo looks nice on her C;

Es la una y media de la mañana y estuve presionandome para terminar estoy hoy (ya es mañana)
para finalmente concentrarme en la comision de un cliente que tengo para hacer esta semana.
El pixelart siempre va a tener su nivel de complejidad, dibujar pixel a pixel no es facil... como cualquier otro artista debes tener manejo de las sombras las luces que las siluetas tengan sentido, que las lineas esten limpias...flashbacks de vietnam no es tarea facil y no es como que haya afuera existan tutoriales sobre cosas SUPER ESPECIFICAS en la cantidad de pixeles en la que estes trabajando ...
Esta ilustracion no la animé debido a la cantidad de pixeles... no por que no pueda, sino por la cantidad de tiempo que me tomaria...
Decidi hacer mi version de la light healer pero con una tematica mas angelical. pienso que la aureola le queda linda C;

Head Sketch!

what a mess! no wonder I don't usually work with canvases this big.... XD i was constantly zooming in and out as i drew any line... i use a graphic tablet to do all my illustrations and i recently realized that being at an angle, it makes my vision of the illustration distorted and i end up making the body small and the head big XD .... so this time I tried to be aware of that too... on the sketch I was defining what would be the center of the head where the root of the hair would be, where it would fall, the location of the eyes, the ears, and eyebrows, the possible shape of the eyes and nose...

que desastre! no por nada no trabajo habitualmente con lienzos tan grandes... XD estuve contantemente ampliando y reduciendo el zoom a medida que dibujaba cualquier linea.. yo utilizo una tableta grafica para hacer todas mis ilustraciones y me di cuenta recientemente que al estar en angulo, hace que mi vision de la ilustracion se distorcione y acabo haciendo el cuerpo pequeño y la cabeza grande XD ... asi que esta vez trate de estar pendiente de eso tambien.. sobre el sketch estuve definiendo cual seria el centro de la cabeza en donde estaria la raiz del cabello, hacia donde caeria, la ubicacion de los ojos, las orejas, y las cejas, la posible forma de los ojos y nariz...

Body sketch

Normally when I do sketches, I always help myself with geometrical elements to 1. not die of stress and 2. to try to visualize in a simple way the elements, bust, arms, torso, waist.

Normalmente cuando hago bocetos, siempre me ayudo con elementos geometricos para 1. no morir de estres y 2. para tratar de visualizar de una manera simple los elementos, busto, brazos, torso, cintura.

Clean sketch

In this part I usually take at least two hours, while I try to get things relatively as I want, making curves in pixelart is hell so, it's always, do, delete, do, delete, until I get the curve I want... I could make the curve pixel by pixel doing the math but it would take me too much time to do it this way and I trust my hand to get the shape I need.

En esta parte suelo tomarme al menos unas dos horas, mientras trato de que las cosas queden relativamente como quiero, hacer curvas en pixelart es un infierno asi que, siempre es, hacer, borrar, hacer, borrar, hasta que tengo la curva que quiero... podria hacer la curva pixel por pixel haciendo la matematica pero me tomaria demasiado tiempo hacerlo asi y confio en que mi mano lograra la forma que necesito.

Adding lines to the base sketch

Here I start to add lines that help me to define the direction of the hair, the fabric, the areas where the light will be and the areas where there will be shadow, some of these lines go to the end of the illustration as they are only to delimit areas.

Aqui comienzo a añadir lineas que me ayuden a definir la direccion del cabello, de la tela, las areas donde estara la luz y las areas en donde habrá sombra, algunas de estas lineas se van al final de la ilustracion ya que solo son para delimitar areas.

Base color

After previously choosing the colors I would use for the skin in this case due to the hurry, I was working on the fly placing the shadows and highlights where I needed to give shape and dimension to the face, the blush on the cheeks here looks more like a dark circles than anything else, on the neck I leave the space for the necklace and with the blur tool I blur the orange and purple colors I used on the bust to give it dimension.

Despues de elegir previamente los colores que usaria para la piel en este caso debido a la prisa, fui trabajando sobre la marcha colocando las sombras y las luces en donde necesitaba para darle forma y dimension al rostro, el rubor de las mejillas aqui parece mas una ojera que otra cosa, en el cuello dejo el espacio para el collar y con la herramienta de blur difumino los colores anaranjados y morados que utilice en el busto para darle dimension.

Oh christ... might i introduce you: MY NEMESIS THE LIPS!

I spent a STUPID amount of time trying to do lips and to be fair I'm not good at doing lips I ALWAYS ALWAYS spend an hour or two trying to get the shape I want or worse.... the color, so you will see the types of mouths I tried .... I think I forgot to upload one of the lip pictures because I know I did at least 5 prototypes .... all of them horrible LMAO so the final drawing is ... well the one that looks the best to me... and my back hurts QAQ

pase una cantidad ESTUPIDA de tiempo tratando de hacer los labios y para ser justa no soy buena haciendo labios siempre SIEMPRE demoro 1 hora o dos tratando de dar con la forma que quiero o peor aun ... el color, asi que veran los tipos de boca que intente ... creo que olvide subir una de las fotos de los labios porque se que hice al menos 5 prototipos ... todos horribles LMAO asi que el del dibujo final es ... bueno el que mejor me parece que quedaba... y mi espalda duele QAQ

coloring the lineart

to make an illustration blend with the background, any background, usually what I do is colorize using clipping mask over the lineart and that's it... I use the colors that best blend with her clothes and voila! then I do the same with the face.

para que una ilustracion se pueda mexclar con el fondo, cualquier fondo, usualmente lo que hago es colorear usando clipping mask sobre el lineart y listo... uso los colores que mejor se mezclen con su ropa y voila! luego hago lo mismo con la cara.

Eyes SIKE !

yeah i changed them, and tried hard to make em look you know, alive

... now i gotta do the same with the other eye... yeah it was painful

Background work

this is the last thing I did, I wanted to keep it simple (because I'm literally dying of tiredness and sleep) :D so I just made some bushes with flowers and repeated it until I filled the background, applied progressive blur and I'm done ! I'm done ! 6 hours doing this while listening to aurora.

esto es lo ultimo que hice, quise mantenerlo simple (porque me estoy muriendo de cansancio y sueño literalmente) :D asi que solo hice unos arbustos con flores y lo repeti hasta llenar el fondo, les aplique blur progresivo y ya YA ! TERMINE ! 6 horas haciendo esto mientras escuchaba a aurora.
