The Bundle Of Beans Diaries - Day 3 to 8 - Bathing, Cuddling & Storytime!

Catching up on the bundle of beans diaries
As if having 5 kittens with diarrhea is not enough work because of the cleaning, the kittens also needed to get medication as their mother tested positive for a parasite called giardia. Let me tell you that this medication is not one they like and it's been a pain to give it to them plus on top of that the diarrhea got worse as well as the parasite needs to go. To avoid them having more issues than needed, they also get probiotics. First, we had one in powder form but this was even worse to give them so thankfully my direct contact and help with everything needed made sure I would get liquid probiotics. Unfortunately, it took a few days before we could pick it up because I had migraines during the weekend, and after that, I became really sick and I could not even get through the day properly.
Kittens with a parasite and being sick is not a good combination
You may know the smell that comes from the poop when they have a parasite, which is something I can handle normally and I don't fear cleaning up poop at all either, but these days, it was horrible. I can't remember any other occasion in my life where the poop smell made me almost throw up. Meaning that at some point, I could not even stand to be in the bedroom anymore, no matter if everything was just cleaned. My body was in total rejection and I had to stay in the living room and slept on the couch too. I felt bad as my boyfriend and daughter had to do everything, our daughter was a great help to keep the kittens busy playing with them while my boyfriend did the nasty tasks on top of his 50-hour work-week. Not ideal for him either but this was what it was.
It was not all bad
I will just sum up days 3 to 8 (more or less) and take it from there in the next blog. During the weekend, when I had horrible migraines, my daughter was the best help ever! She went inside the room to check on the kittens if they were awake and needed attention. She sat with them to play and there were truly adorable moments that light my day even when I could not bare the light due to the migraines, lol. These pictures are so adorable I can't withhold them from you!
Bathing time!
I almost forgot to add this part where we had to bathe the kittens for the first time thanks to their diarrhea. It was less trouble than I expected, we were fully prepared:
We figured if we need to bathe them might as well weigh them and gently use the blow dryer. So all was prepared. I have to say, I tried the blowdryer with the first two kittens, quickly decided cuddling them with a towel worked best, and left the rest for what it was. I used 5 towels and water only to make it less of a hassle.
Bundled up in the blanket
When my daughter first used her baby blanket to tuck in our cat Mochi, it was now used for another purpose: tucking in the baby kitten who was willing to be tucked in at that moment. I mean, it was adorable to see that this sweetheart allowed her and just fell asleep in that position, what's not to love?
Storytime!
As you may know, my daughter is now learning how to read (in Spanish that is) because at school they are going at a rapid pace in terms of learning Spanish. She is still behind with some things but her 4x a week tutoring sessions are paying off as well because she is now practicing reading and I have noticed that it's going better every day. To practice she just takes a small book and starts reading to us, but not only us! She also read to the kittens several times and guess what, they seem to enjoy it because, at some point, some more come to her to listen and fall asleep while listening, lol. Too cute!
As we're already a week further, expect the next part of the bundle of beans diaries soon now that I'm not sick anymore :)

Lovely little kittens! They can be a lot of work but it sounds like it’s a great time for your daughter, especially as they are snuggling with her while she reads lol.
Diarrhea is brutal, nevertheless when you’re sick yourself!
Yeah they are a joy but also a lot of work. I was told that we were a bit unlucky with this badge though in terms of the diarrhea not being over after x days, probably because the mother tested positive for Guardia and they needed a new week treatment. I think I forgot to write that but whatever, that's what you get for trying to catch up on more than a week of pictures and videos :)
I don't mind cleaning their shit (literally) but when I was sick myself, I could not be close to them when one went to the litterbox or afterward. They bring so much love though, so I'm happy that poops are becoming normal again for most. Not all though, but it's a lot less work now :)
I should write the next part soon so I don't have another day of pictures to browse through lol. Insane how much footage you have after a few days :)
I hope that the kitten will get better soon, and that you will not experience migraine again. It must be quite hard to handle them all at once.
your daughter is so cute to be able to put the kitten to sleep while reading the Spanish book. hitting two birds with one stone, isn't it?
