The 30 Pictures 30 Stories Challenge - Day 18 - Baby blanket
Day 18 - Baby blanket
I got inspired by the "30 day not-so ordinary ordinary items challenge" but as I love giving things a personal twist, I decided to change the format a bit for myself so it suits me better. I've adjusted it to the 30 pictures - 30 stories challenge. But some days you will see that I also use not-so ordinary ordinary objects.
Feel free to join the challenge at any time if you like.
Publish one picture a day during 30 days and write a story about that picture. This can be anything, any object in the home, a person, scenery or a pet. I'm going to share a diversity of pictures and challenge myself to step outside of the box.
After sharing quite a personal picture yesterday, I have another one for today. This sight right there is something I see daily now, my daughter tucking in Mochi the cat whenever she sees he's sleeping and may be cold due to the wind blowing through the room. He likes to have his scratching post right by the window you see, as this means he can look outside all day and check out who passes. He now sleeps in the top part a lot and at one point my daughter decided to put the blanket on top of him.
This blanket dates back from back to when she was not born yet. I was gifted a box (it was HUGE) from a charity that collected second hand clothes and other baby items for mothers that could not afford it themselves currently. I signed up and had two different telephone calls as a sort of intake, as they check if someone is really eligible, before I heard the good news that I was accepted for a big baby box. This box was nothing like all the other free boxes you get when you're pregnant in Holland, this was out of this world! I remember when it arrived and how heavy it was. Opening it and then checking all the items was a task that took at least an hour and I was more in awe by every item I unpacked.
This package was put together with care and love for the mothers that can't afford decent items themselves. I kid you not, most of it were brand clothes and if not expensive brand clothes, they came from the cheaper ones that lasted very long and were of high quality. It was such a happy moment in an overall not so happy phase of our lives.
One of items in the box was this baby blanket from fleece material. This was not even the most precious thing in the box, but it's one of the items that lasted almost 7 years now without it being torn or anything. My daughter still uses it daily to tuck in her dolls and now, tuck in the cat, lol. The cutest thing about it is that he seems to like being tucked in for as long as he wishes to sleep, he stays there all calm and Zen under the blanket and my daughter looks satisfied as a good cat-momma would do, haha.
I don't know how long this blanket will last but for now, our (male) cat Mochi will have to deal with all the pink-ness. I wonder what people passing our window think when they see him laying there under this bright pink blanket.. I think he looks adorable and I think it's cute my daughter lends out her blanket to keep the cat warm. <3
