Day 6 - Dusty Sunset

day 6 - dusty sunset.png

I hear you thinking, what the heck do you mean, dusty sunset? Look closer! This is not some mist or smoke from a fire you're seeing in the sky here, nope, it's sand. And this is very common here, actually currently more the norm than the exception. I remember it being an exception when we lived in Spain 2016-2017 as it was quite a happening when everything got covered in sand. I still remember how the streets and our balconies looked, horrible!

Last week, we took a taxi to check out a car seller who just got three new options that were all good options for us and we didn't hesitate to go there. We arrived to find out none of them were left, unfortunately. Further down the road, there were a few other car sellers but it was a very long walk and my knee was a bit tricky so we didn't know if we'd end up that far or not. We crossed a Burger King and had a hungry child as we left around dinner time so instead we sat there and ate a burger. I called a taxi to get us home and then I saw this sky outside.

I had to walk a bit more to the left and right to see the sunset and confirmation there was no fire and this was actual sand in the sky again. I can see how this air is more and more polluted because clearly this can't be healthy breathing it in. I see more notifications about the sky being polluted and people with health risks should try to stay inside.

When moving here I was so looking forward to capturing sunrises and sunsets often, especially at the coast where we live, but I have to say that 9 months later, I have not captured more than a few, and those were probably not even that worthy to share. This is all thanks to the polluted air, it's mission impossible most of the times to have a clear sky capturing the sun or moon. What a shame!

Does the sky look like this where you live?

This blog is part of the 30 days 30 stories challenge I started after successfully publishing 30 pictures and 30 stories the month before. I changed it up a bit as I wanted to be able to include regular blogs as well as pictures this round.

The idea is simple: publish one post a day during 30 days. You are more than welcome to join the challenge.
