A View To Die For

Moving is exhausting

For the past few weeks, everything was focussed on moving ourselves out of the old 1 bedroom apartment into a new 3 bedroom apartment with a lot of extra's. After being without running water for 3 weeks due to our previous landlord not having a contract at the water company, and sending us bills from another one of his apartments, he actuallyd did us a favor as this meant we could break the lease and he had to pay back the full deposit plus the month rent for October. This meant the new beds and matrasses are paid by him, thanks!

It was not an easy month

I can laugh about it now but it was exhausting even for me while I did little carrying. My boyfriend had to carry 20 bottles of 5L water every other day to make sure we could do the basic toilet flussing and rinsing of the dishes a bit here and there. It was not a matter of carrying it from and to the car but took at least an hour a day and a lot of power to carry it. On top of a 50 hour workweek that is.

And then the universe provided

Everything we asked for and more, a 3 bedroom apartment with a garage and a pool (which I already gave up on during my weeks of house hunting) and no issues with pets. Add to that fitted wardrobes and a view to die for from a balcony, after living in a place without an outside space for 15 months. Oh, I forgot a storage space which is huge too! I mean, yes, the home has flaws but every home has these and with a little TLC, this one can really made into a home. Did I mention we have a very cool landlady? She's 12 years younger than me and she deserves a bunch of respect for helping us out. And she only charged the one month deposit and not a few months of guarantee like most do since the new housing law was valid.

Waking up with a view

Makes you feel so much chiller and waking up with a smile. Yes, we had a few days of storm already and it was quite scary a few times (the window frame is loose in one room, lol) but I would not go back for the world. We are still surrounded with boxes and I feel so much better here even in this chaotic state of the home.

I used to see a similar view when taking the train from Budapest to Lake Balaton, with these cute little houses near the water and think, man, how amazing is that to have such a view? Now we got one of our own! I'm so grateful, sometimes life throws you a bunch of lemons (or takes away your water, lol) to make sure you turn things around and upgrade your life. This is how it feels for me, it was a huge blessing in disguise.

More soon!

Yeah, I'm happy we got out before winter because even though the weather is soft here, the home was mouldy without the airflow and having to dry laundry inside. Not ideal, at all. We're still getting things sorted but waking up with a view is really nice :)

Looks pretty nice from that title pic. I hope you're really happy there, it sounds like it is a serious room apartment with a view 😀👍

So far so good, just trying to get my daughter to the school within walking distance after the Christmas holiday because if our car breaks down, I simply can't bring her because of the steep hill, lol. I also prefer walking to school, instead of driving like I am now. The view is really nice if you feel stressed or annoyed, just take a few minutes to sit on the balcony and take that in, it helps :)
