Villa Pitões-snow winter
there is a magical place, I would say this is possibly the right place for me.
different from the others, unlike anything I've ever visited.
perhaps because it is not yet fully touristic and preserves its roots as they were 100 years ago
The village operates at two rhythms, with just 150 inhabitants according to a survey carried out in 2021.
It's as if something is so far away and so close and at the same time so unique.
For those who know Portugal, you know that it doesn't snow everywhere and most of the places are mountains.
This mountain looks beautiful painted white.
A place that has little commerce and the inhabitants survive mainly from agriculture.
Too poor for some, but for others it's a way of life.
This relaxed lifestyle without much pressure on the city.
The place where most of us dreamed of being without the stress of the hustle and bustle of big cities.
This is the place for you and me.
The place where I dream of living one day.
Although there are many old houses, many are being converted and repaired, having the rustic appearance of the village but with all the habitability conditions of the place.
Imagine opening the curtain and seeing the entire mountain painted white while the fireplace is lit
The rocks of the mountain are full of life, and here it snows with some frequency.
it even becomes an unknown attraction because, as I said, it is little visited and "little explored when it comes to tourism"
ends up preserving quite the magic of this village
The imposing mountains where the proportion makes the village a small point in the immensity that surrounds us.
There is only one access road between the countryside and the mountains, we walked a lot where the more adventurous ones go on foot, however the cold was felt where the snow and rain chilled the soul.
Few walkers were seen.
despite the cold, it rained a little during the night, so in the village there were some traces of snow, but slowly as the day went on it started to melt, but the day before some people passing by were even towed and helped by the amount of density in the streets where there was no respite, reaching heights of almost 30 centimeters
As you can see houses mostly made of stone typical of the region and wooden terraces, narrow streets where animals such as cows usually pass, where cars have to coordinate to see who “passes first”.
A place where we have gone back years, where development has not yet arrived and where the harsh reality of rural life prevails unchanged as if time had not passed there.
In summer it is equally interesting, especially strolling through the small lagoons that result from waterfalls originating between the mountains, with clear, cold water.
It is also common for shepherds to give water to their animals (sheep and goats).
well for today and all, thanks so much for reading.
