Natural Pools Porto Moniz-Madeira

Going to Porto Moniz is like traveling on your own journey due to the time it takes to get there, as it is on the other side of the island of Mandeira, very close to the Laurissilva forest.
That's why the trip to Porto Moniz is a true adventure. When traveling along the Madeiran coast, it is impossible to remain indifferent to the magnificent landscapes that appear at the intersection of the green and blue sea and the stunning views over the ocean and the green mountains. Between several winding but very well maintained roads, “all asphalt”, I crossed to the place.

Arriving in Porto Moniz you immediately notice the panoramic view over the natural pools, and that's what I'm going to show you today :)
The natural pools are formed by volcanic formations of black rock that create a beautiful contrast between the blue of the sea. The location itself is pleasant, despite being a small village, with cafes and a good restaurant overlooking the sea nearby, with mostly fish-based dishes, typical of the region.

After going down to the pool, the particularity of the place becomes evident. We can easily see several small natural lagoons, well cared for and prepared for us to enjoy beautiful bathing with small, well-defined roads adapted even for people with reduced mobility.
The crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean, which at high tide guarantee constant water renewal.

With the sun beating down, there's nothing more tempting than taking a dip before setting off on a new discovery, so off I went.
When entering the water the first sensation is the freshness that the Atlantic Ocean has already accustomed us to, however after a few minutes our body gets used to it. Despite the coldness of the water, as it was hot, it helps to dry us and we are not cold, it ends up being refreshing.

After swimming, I decided to relax a little while drying myself in the sun.
I spread the towel in a suitable place nearby and lay down while observing the surrounding landscape, and the incredible sensation of being on top of a rock covered in lava that was once an active volcano made that place so unique on the island that it even ended up being a bit difficult to describe such beauty

The sea breeze constantly helped to maintain a pleasant temperature under the hot local sun.
So it was then while I was drying myself with the towel half wrapped around me that I decided to take out my camera and take these photos for you

The view from afar looked like the rough sea, but inside those natural pools the waves were breaking outside and no impact was felt inside.

It is also possible to see several people enjoying the same experience as me
