Elon Musk Colossus of xAI

I think I'm almost getting addicted to talking about Elon Musk every single day. He's all over the tech news and if you're into tech, you can't miss him.

I already talked about his vision to compete with OpenAI using his very own AI startup company called xAI.

One thing that company has right now is speed on development and growth, and why would you be surprised anyways, it's Elon Musk with both cash and experts all around him so if he has an idea it'll grow. The company is working real fast to build one of the most powerful supercomputers in Memphis, Tennessee.

Just imagine having 200,000 GPUs, Nvidia’s finest H100 and H200 models all packed into this one supercomputer and even after achieving that he has no intention of stopping or even slowing down. Elon is hoping that by next summer, he could reach 300,000 GPUs with this supercomputer. They call the computer "Colossus" and I thinking it's a befitting name for such power and potential. If he achievea this goal, it definitely would make his supercomputer one of the most powerful computers of all time.

But I see this has a very huge gamble and not a cheap one too. He already has 100,000 Nvidia GPUs in Colossus and that alone cost around $3 billion.

Trying to upgrade to the H200 GPUs will make it even pricier, but Elon is not a guy that will hesitate to blow millions in a project he believes in. Most tech companies would need years to build a supercomputer of this size and capability but Elon got it done in 122 days.

If he keeps going in this direction, he might have in his hands the most powerful tool in earth and might also dominate the AI industry in the future.

Don't forget that companies like Meta and OpenAI are also competing to build AI models using Nvidia GPUs, so perhaps in a year's time we should see some of powerful computers operating.
