Episode 110: An Azircon Conversation

Welcome back to the People's Guild. The bus is back! @fatjimmy joins us as we sit down with @azircon to discuss a slew of the current happenings.

We talk through Hive, the DHF proposal, potential implications and what we can do for Hive.

Welcome back to the bus, folks, & enjoy the show!

We were experiencing some technical difficulties: apologies in advance for the poor quality on my mic for the first half of the show

DHF Proposal, HBD Stabilizer, and Hive Hub

The team discussed the recent successful funding of the DHF proposal, a dynamic hive proposal that receives funds as long as the proposal is active and the fixed cumulative vote exceeds the return proposal. Azircon clarified the function of the return proposal as a threshold and explained the source and function of the DHF fund, which is dynamic and replenished with each Hive block. He also introduced the HBD Stabilizer Proposal, which regulates the relationship between Hive and HBD, the stable coin pegged at a dollar. The discussion concluded with a walkthrough of the Hive Hub Dev/Proposals interface and how to transfer HBD to the savings bucket.

Hive Platform and Splinterlands Growth

Fatjimmy and Azircon discussed the benefits of using Hive, a blogging platform, for earning passive income. They explained how the platform offers an automatic 15% interest on savings and how the upvote feature determines the amount of Hive a user receives. They also discussed the potential of using the blog generation feature in the Splinterlands game to earn additional income and the recent substantial funding for Splinterlands. Lastly, they touched on the growth of their Hive wallets, the importance of thinking about crypto in terms of its value, and the strategy for delegating proxy votes.

Building a Successful Presence on Hive

Azircon and Fatjimmy discussed the importance of consistency and networking for building a successful presence on the Hive platform. They emphasized the value of regularly posting content and engaging with other users' content through commenting and voting. They also highlighted the uniqueness and value of personal blogging on Hive, encouraging others to share their authentic and personal experiences. The group also discussed the inspiration that can be drawn from the medium, with The mentioning their renewed interest in photography. Azircon offered his support to anyone needing assistance with their blogging.

Hive Power, Splinterlands, and Community Dynamics

Azircon explained the concept of Hive Power, emphasizing its importance in growing through consistent activity, buying and selling SPS and Hive, and staking Hive for voting power. Fatjimmy showed interest in the platform, comparing it to social media platforms and discussing the challenges of promoting a decentralized platform. They also discussed the stake weighted voting system and the dynamics within the Splinterlands community, highlighting the infighting and divisiveness caused by differing opinions on proposals. Azircon proposed an alternative collective idea to leverage the investment already present in the Splinterland game, encouraging players to also invest in the Hive ecosystem for mutual growth.

Hive Engagement, Splinterlands, and Promotion

Azircon and Fatjimmy discussed the importance of engagement on the Hive platform and the strategy of commenting on posts to increase visibility. They also anticipated an upcoming proposal that they hoped would increase engagement and adoption. The relationship between Hive and Splinterlands was highlighted, with both platforms benefiting from mutual promotion. They acknowledged the challenges of promoting a decentralized platform like Hive but emphasized the potential of Splinterlands as a showcase for Hive's capabilities.

Cryptocurrency Market and Hive Investment

Azircon and Fatjimmy discussed the current state of the cryptocurrency market, with Azircon noting that they were not in a bull market and highlighting the potential for increased attention on Hive and other community-driven projects. Azircon announced his purchase of 1 million SPS tokens, and emphasized the importance of holding DEC tokens to receive a 30% discount. The team also discussed the upcoming changes to the promotional card system, the schedule for the Rebellion project, and the potential for new players to make significant investments. Azircon thanked the team and community for their support and encouraged them to continue engaging with the platform.

I love the explanation of how Hive works, this is something that we need to inform more SPL ppl about. I for one have found it VERY difficult to get my head around Hive , it's been a slow process of discovering one small piece of the jigsaw at a time.

It does not need to be such a slow process .Frankly ,if it were not for SPL, I would never have continued to look into Hive, it's simply far too confusing and the motivation to keep looking is not apparent at first

This podcast added a few more pieces for me , ppl like @azircon have much info they take for granted and automatically make connections in their head that seem obvious to them, the basics need to be explained to others, as these connections are far from obvious to most

Awesome to hear @tarabh and I know that is precisely what Azircon was after in this episode.

It's my understanding that Asgarth & co. at team Peakd are also hard at work at revamping UX/UI - which should help with a lot of this for future generations.

Glad to hear the episode was helpful in digging into Hive for you man!

This really was an eye opener for me, I want to do better as a Splinterlands player on hive and will do my best to engage more, thanks for having Azircon on the show to explain everything and I hope I'm not the only splinterfan that has it's eyes opened because of this.
It's great listening to your podcasts while driving for work :)

I've just seen & replied to your post, man! Great to see it. I've also actually just rekindled my personal blog again after largely sitting dormant the last few years and plan to use Hive as the platform to push me back towards photography - @bjangles, if ya wanna follow along :)

Anyway, glad ya enjoyed the show - thanks for tuning in!

Do you know where I could find an idiot's guide to post formatting? I'm completely unaware when it comes to things like resizing images or splitting things in to columns etc. Thank you in advance!

Was a very insightful episode. It will be a great idea to encourage Splinterlands players not only to invest but also engage in the hive community. Will be nice if there is a link on the SPL landing page that will redirect to the SPL hive blog account not only to get updated on recent SPlinterlands updates but to also see the different SPL blog contest that players could participate.
