THE CLARION CALL; Finally Serving My Father's Land - My fears, my plans.

Around 10 pm on Friday, I got a notification from a WhatsApp group.

A good news! NYSC call up letter was out.

FINALLY!

Serving in Nigeria comes with mixed feelings and emotions.

I will be finally free from just staying at home without having anywhere to go, just working, sleeping and eating.

I'm tired of it sincerely. Finally! What else do I want? Likewise, it comes with duty and a lot of "spendings".

Checking your place of deployment is another big decision. Questions like "will they post me to a nearby state?", and that's the greatest anxiety of it.

I wish I'd say "luckily", but I got posted to Abia. How lucky is that? I'm not a traveling person. The farthest distance I've traveled was from Osun State to Lagos State.

I wouldn't have mind if I was meant to travel from Naija to London, UK. New dispensation, lol. Luxurious stress.

But, traveling from Osun to Abia is a 'sapa' stress o. I can't afford flight 😬

Thinking that I would live in Abia State for a year to serve my Father's Land...

No! No!! No!!!

I'd work relocation or redeployment or what do they call it ni o.

I can't stay in Abia o, due to many reasons.

I'm at a stage where I'm hell-bent on rebuilding my life and I know changing of environment can be disastrous to my plans.

Imagine staying in a strange land for a year, then you have to go back to restart what you planned.

My plans can't be fully maxed out in Abia. The issue is not about the state. It's me. I know what I want.

Making up my mind to serve was a lot of work, so I can't completely risk my life to serve my country. That one year can change a lot for me too.

To me, it's an opportunity. I can't imagine the life after NYSC. We handle pressure differently, so I can't risk my plans for another year.

Maybe it's one of my plans to get married during the service year. If so, you all will surely be invited.

Another thing: I'm not a traveling type, as I've said, but the journey would be a 7hrs+ stressful one, if not more than that.

I'm not complaining. I'm just scared of the journey, considering the situation of the country. The father's land I can't serve easily with my peace of mind intact. It is well.

Even though I'm not anti social, but lately, there haven't been much of social interactions from my side. Speaking, discussing and laughing with people genuinely gives me happiness, it helps relax my mind, especially with those I'm familiar with, the 'like-minds'. I want to improve myself in certain ways, one of such is social interaction. I think this is the best opportunity, but I don't know how easy that'd be.

Well, I see myself applying the teachings of Dale Carnegie's book - how to win friends and influence people. However, no pressure. I bet I'd enjoy my stay in camp. That might a deceiving thought though. SAED is your mate, dude? Lol.

Anyway, here we go guys. I should already be in camp by this time 3rd of November. We will be in camp for 20 days, then leave the 21st day. After then, we will all go to our Primary Place of Assignment (PPA).

I will try as much as possible to post exclusive updates, but that's not a promise. I might fxck up, but I will try.
