My first Maize growing/ Maize Challenge 2022

Hello all you hardworking maize growers, this challenge was started by @felixxx and looking back, the reason why I could be encouraged to HIVE.

This is the first time I've ever grown vegetables and the first time I've grown maize. I had already read a lot about cultivation and knew that maize needs a lot of start-up help, so I didn't want to take any risks and always put a little primary rock flour in the soil with the grain.

Unbelievably, either the primary rock flour has worked wonders or the maize is not as stubborn as they say. After only 4 days, the little plants had already grown out of the ground.

13 out of 14 grains have sprouted and I am very happy....
13 is one of my favourite numbers, of course because of Jesus.

Two varieties caught my eye in the selection, a rainbow maize and a sweetcorn that comes from an organic producer. Since maize is a wind pollinator, we will see what comes out behind it. lool 😅

I grow the plants at home, because the ice saints have to end here in Germany before I can plant varieties like maize. May is very promising, because in this month many sweethearts would come out.

At the end of this week I will bring forward another pallet at home, because there is still a little space in the garden where they can also find a place. In addition, they will ripen at a later date and they are not all ready at once.

I'm really curious to see if it all works out and what the result will be. I will definitely keep you posted and be surprised what your corn does. I would love to grill it with you all, because eating together is the most fun.... but even though there are quite a few kilometres separating us, we'll do it in our minds.
