THE SEARCH
So few days ago I went in search of greener pastures in the form of a new apartment seeing as the current place I am staying is riddled with unfortunate circumstances here and there ranging from lack of light (this one will be another discussion on its own), to bad road (the beginning of the road to the end is filled with pot holes one could use to store up corn 😏).
The search began and ended with trekking all through. I left the house in the afternoon hours with sun sent by powers I had offended in a former life directly to glaze my scalp and make my head hotter than ever. I was able to ignore the burning sensation of the sun and focus on the burning sensation/hunger I am having for a new apartment with the help of my companion in the person of my sister (the main reason why I am searching for this new apartment). We journeyed for 30 minutes or more to meet up with a contact who was supposedly going to make the hunt easier but I kid you not in the voice of Cece Winans It wasn't easy, on getting to meet up with my contact, we quickly took a much needed water break by branching to the home of a friend around the vicinity who welcomed us with satchets of very cold pure water, (I believe I might have drank like 4 satchets before we continued on our journey) and we deliberated on the current political atmosphere of the nation discussing what ifs and probability.
The journey for the search then began, we called a number we saw on a notice board concerning a single room, the agent directed us to meet with him and on getting to see him the first thing he asked for was this scarce 1000 naira new note
to use for consultation before he takes us to the location of the vacant room. We argued strongly that the possibility of making that naira note available was like telling him the real age of Bola Ahmed Tinubu which is not possible. After a little back and forth he agreed to take us to the location of the single vacant room and my brothers and sisters it was an eyesore, a sham, a mockery of my standards, a balablu, I lack the words to describe the state of it.
I just had to keep a smiling face
all through the ordeal because it was more like a hostage situation to me and I was the one held hostage because of my wants and needs. Finally fake promises were made to the agent so I could leave the vicinity of a hoax deal. I forgot to mention that the location of the toilet was like 2 compounds away from the compound
literally the journey of a thousand miles
and there was no roof to protect one while going about the rectal business.
Note to Myself - If I had given that man that scarce 1000 naira, I would have been angry with myself the rest of the day.
After leaving the domain of a failed dream, we did some walk around and landed in another new vicinity but the hope we had was ephemeral but as luck will have it or should I say fate, I stumbled upon a former neighbour who is a house agent that gave me assurances on securing a house within my budget and contacts were exchanged to ensure smooth communication and better scaling of the search.
To God be the glory the hunt isn't over but we are a step better than when we started with the right possible contacts in place who have been communicated in clear terms our wants and needs with the underlying T&C to our demands.
Wait for the continuation.
Thank you for reading and pray that we get what we know should be the best.

The journey of house hunting is not for the faint-hearted especially in this Buhari economy..
Hello @thegoodman444 and thanks for sharing your story on Hive.
I see you're new on Hive, so let me drop you a few suggestions to help you navigate better on our platform.
We have different communities on Hive and we're encouraging users to post in the right community based on the topic of the post. This post for example would fit better in Rant, Complain, Talk community.
OCD community is for topics that don't fit in any other community and should be used when you don't find a niche community for your post.
Here's a guide I put together to help you learn about how communities work and why you should use them -> Communities Explained - Newbie Guide. I also put together a list of communities, which is not complete, there are much more communities on Hive, but it will help you get started.
Once you posted your post in the right community, you can then cross post it to OCD community. Here's a guide about cross posting.
Please don't delete any post with the purpose of reposting it in another community as that can be considered abuse. Leave this post here, you'll get it right next time.
Thank you
