It's Sunday again which mean it's time for another giveaway. I've been doing this initiative now for thirty-four weeks now, and it sure doesn't seem like it. I'm glad you all are enjoying it, and as long as you do I will keep this Sunday staple running.

This past week I posed the question: "What is your favorite ghoul or monster?" It was perfect for Halloween which we just celebrated on Thursday. Now for the fun part! I'll go over some of your choices, I would like to highlight them all but it would make this post way too long! First off we have the most popular pick, Dracula and/or vampires.

Dracula and Vampires

wegotthiscovered.com

screenrant.com

Dracula was a popular pick but I included all of the vampire picks into this one. Thanks to @coolmidwestguy , @hatdogsensei , @logen9f , @ronnie10 , @snowboarderpete , @shiftrox and @lumpiadobo for your answers. I think everyone is familiar with these mythical creatures and probably has seen a vampire movie or two. Dracula was originally published by Bram Stoker in 1897. It was loosely based off of Vlad III (often called the Impaler.) His reputation for cruelty were taken from texts of his enemies so much of it may have been greatly exaggerated. From the book Dracula came the inspiration for vampire tales and movies to this very day.

The pictures above come from the movie Renfield starring Nicolas Cage as Dracula, he did a good job and it's worth watching. The Brides of Dracula came for the movie Van Helsing , another great vampire movie!

Werewolf

nerdburglars.net

This pick came from @arc7icwolf @silvertop and @kungfukid . Werewolf legends have been around for nearly a thousand years, but Hollywood has made them more popular than ever. Legends likely came from people suffering from hypertrichosis (lots and lots of extra body hair) but it created a legendary creature. Great pick by all three of you, thanks!

Frankenstein's Monster

cbr.com

Frankenstein was published in 1818 by Mary Shelley depicting a young Dr. Frankenstein attempting to reanimate the dead. He of course succeeds creating Frankenstein's Monster. There have been more movies than I can count about variations of this story, but a true classic and a great pick. Thanks @mcoinz79 for this pick!

Pinhead from Hellraiser

looper.com

My good friend @summertooth picked Pinhead from the movie series Hellraiser. It would be really creepy to run into a guy with pins sticking out all over his head. For some classic horror you should watch the original Hellraiser!

Ghosts

sciencenewsforstudents.org

Ghosts have been scaring people for as long as time has been recorded. Some people are believers and other are skeptics. I personally am a believer from personal experiences I've had that removed my skepticism. I can't explain what they are, or if they are former people who died, or something different altogether that we don't have the technology to understand. But they can be very spooky!

@tengolotodo even mentioned the caoineag which is a Scottish ghost or spirit that foretells of coming death. Often heard near bodies of water. Interesting legend though and worth looking up!

Thanks to @olaf.gui @dewabrata and @tengolotodo for this pick!

And last but definitely not least!

The Bloody Raven

This comes from my good friend @kerrislravenhill , and it's awesome! Not only do I give you the picture she provided but the screenshot of the details! And just because it so awesome I sent her off some bonus HSBI!

And of course we have a honorable mention for @enginewitty and his pick of Elvira!

fanpop.com

Thank you to all of my participants this week!

This weeks entry question

I know Halloween is over but, do you believe in ghosts?

The Giveaway

I will be giving out two prizes of five (5) HSBI. Third prize will be 2 DUO tokens, the token I recently launched with @bulliontools and @bitcoinman . It offers those who stake sufficient tokens daily curation on quality posts, dividends, and a tipping bot. It also helps to onboard and retain new Hive members. At the end of the post there is a link to the white paper and where to purchase the tokens. There will also be one legendary Splinterlands card as a fourth prize. If you don't play Splinterlands just let me know and I'll send you an HSBI instead. To participate you need a reputation level of at least 25 and bots cannot win. And please one entry per person to make it fair to everyone.

If you have more questions about DUO feel free to ask, it's growth is exceeding all of our expectations!

Legendary Splinterlands card up for grabs this next week:

A level 1 Void Dragon, this one is a great card!

If you would like to be placed on a weekly reminder list just let me know and I'll make sure you get tagged each week. The list so far is rather short:

@hiveborgminer
@kungfukid
@stekene
@elizabethbit
@ronnie10
@whywhy
@cositav
@hatdogsensei
@yusmelys

How to Enter

Every week this will change. I'm looking for engagement rather than just saying "I am in". There is no need to upvote or re-blog, although if you choose to do so I would appreciate it. This week's question is an easy one:
I know Halloween is over but, do you believe in ghosts? And why?

HSBI

If you are unfamiliar with the prize you can learn more here:

https://ecency.com/post/@steembasicincome/hive-sbi

Or check out my recent post:

https://labs.inleo.io/@thebighigg/hsbi-what-are-they-my-experience-and-a-starter-guide

Choosing the Winners

All valid entries will be placed on the Wheel of Names and I will spin it four times. The first prize will be 5 HSBI units. The second prize will be another 5 HSBI units. And the third prize will be two DUO tokens. Fourth prize is a legendary Splinterlands card or one HSBI unit! And since I am spinning the same wheel four times in a row it is theoretically possible for the same person to win all four prizes! Although I have yet to see it happen, maybe this week?

Deadline

Please note I am changing it to earlier on Sunday to make it easier on me if I'm headed out for the day
One week from today which will be Sunday November 10, 2024 at 8 A.M. California Pacific Time.

Now to choose last week's lucky winners!

And the first spin!

Congratulations @cositav ! You won five HSBI units!

And the second spin!

Congratulations @ekavieka ! You won five HSBI units!

The third spin

Congratulations @shiftrox ! You have won two DUO tokens!

The fourth spin

Congratulations @summertooth ! You have won your choice of the legendary Splinterlands card or two HSBI units. Just let me know what you prefer and I'll get it sent off!

Surprise bonus spin

Congratulations @dewabrata ! You won two DUO tokens!

That will wrap up the giveaway for this week. Next Sunday I'll be back to giveaway some more great prizes. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below. Especially to answer today's entry question! Thank you for all of your support, without it these giveaways wouldn't be possible. Have a great Sunday everyone!

I don't believe in anything supernatural. I'm all for things that science can prove.

I'm a hard core man of science too, even have a doctorate. I've seen things that aren't possible without and external energy source when there wasn't any. Supernatural things exist in my mind, just have no way to scientifically measure them as of yet, someday we will be able to!

Hi, I haven't played your giveaway for a long time and I'm glad I'm on the notif list :) Not really I don't believe in ghosts as they are displayed in the movies. Recently read something about it interesting, someone said that this year is 15 years how Patrick Swayze died and we haven't seen Ghost 2 - yet!

Felicidades a los ganadores, excelente sorteo, si creo en fantasmas, en mi pueblo dicen, de que vuelan vuelan. Deben ser espiritus que no han cruzado el umbral, saludos

Congratulations to the winners, excellent draw, yes I believe in ghosts, in my town they say, they fly, they fly. They must be spirits that have not crossed the threshold, greetings

Okay; so I believe there are demons out there who could manifest themselves as ghosts visually. I have had encounters with them in the past (yeah, I know you're thinking I'm crazy, but trust me, I'm not) but no experiences lately.

They were distinctly evil. It was not a good feeling.

Enjoy the week @thebighigg and take care!

I don't know what demons are or even apparitions honestly, they do happen. It would be nice to think that we live on after death, maybe we do. But there is something out there we don't understand or see, maybe even in another dimension that can enter ours? Or maybe living parallel to ours but we can't see them? Who knows?

I think that you have to be open to them or gifted to be able to see them. I kind of turned my 'openess' off because of what I've seen and experienced. Spiritual warfare goes on around us daily; we just aren't always aware.

Take care @thebighigg and have a lovely day! !LADY

The wheel of names is weird, I get some people that win for three or four weeks straight and then come up dry for two or three months. Random, dumb luck just like winning the lottery I guess...

I can't speak for others, and since the question is personal, I must stress that I don't believe in ghosts.

I may have many explanations for my answer, starting with respecting other people's beliefs, I believe I am a man of science.

Ghosts and demons are things that we may not yet be able to prove with 100% accuracy, but I believe that ghosts do exist, people with issues in their lives that force them to stay here. Some people seem to feel them and even talk to them, so I think they do exist.

I'm a hardcore scientist at heart, but once you experience something paranormal with absolutely no way to explain it, there is something. Something I think we can't understand or prove scientifically, but we may someday.

It used to be you were crazy if you had seen a UFO, now the government releases evidence that they exist as well. They just don't understand what they are or what they're doing.

I'm with you on this one all the way!

Exactly! Aliens and ghosts, I think they both exist, we just haven't been able to prove 100% every anomaly that happens, but we know that some things that have happened and have been publicized show that. I love it, these 2 subjects, science fiction, time travel, paradoxes, it's all crazy and I love it kkk

I do believe. Once had an encounter with feeling one tap me on the shoulder while working in an old haunted church.

Maybe it was all in my mind, but it felt extremely real. I remember it like it was yesterday even though it was more than 40 years ago.

Those things are not uncommon in buildings with violent pasts or a lot of history. I don't think you remember it wrong, it happened. I've been pushed back before, so I understand that one! That was over thirty years ago, but I still remember it. I've tried to talk myself out of believing it happened, but it did!

I don’t have personal beliefs, but the idea of ghosts fascinates many due to cultural stories and personal experiences that people share. Some believe in ghosts as a way to explain unexplained phenomena or as a way to connect with loved ones who have passed away.

I haven't seen one either but have seen things move in front of my eyes without explanation. As a scientist I excluded all possible outside forces, there was something causing the motion. Just something we don't understand.

I like to find out how ghost's tick is a bit of a curiosity for me a few posts ago, so I have actively sought after them when given the opportunity using what knowledge I know from all the internet videos I have studied in the past. I've done a few solo night time expeditions in certain buildings, streets and parkways in New Westminster's waterfront, the oldest city in BC and seen a few things but nothing really solid proof.

Not sure ghosts is the right word. There is so much we know fluff all about. There are things that happen that are very hard to explain. The Universe works in mysterious ways.
For example I am not that far away from saying I think reincarnation happens.
So yes there may well be something in the paranormal. We used to watch ghosthunters on TV to satisfy my wife as the UK is old etc.
Things happen when you don't go looking for them.
I believe in Nessie so I can hardly say I don't believe in ghosts!

There is something in Loch Ness, probably many somethings... what who really knows? I have experienced things as a hard core scientist that can't be explained. Things move in front of my eyes without any outside possible energy source. Footsteps upstairs when no one is upstairs. I've been pushed backward before, ironically right before a car would have hit me. There is much we don't understand!

I don't understand what is out there, I have seen and heard things that I can't explain. I'm a hard core man of science, but I have seen things that can't be explained short of some unknown/ unexplained entity or energy. I wish we had technology to help us understand it better, maybe someday we will!

Ghosts huh? I believe in things that can't be explained away by science and have had several encounters that could be considered ghostly by definition. One that comes to mind is about 20 years ago, my brother and I and the girls we were with went to a spot called Crazy George's Bridge not far from here. Local legend says if you park the vehicle and stay quiet, you'll see the headless spookable. Trying to scare each other, we all took turns being idiots for about 15 minutes. After no paranormal activity, we decided to leave. However, once the truck was started, it began to move on its own, across and over the bridge above the railroad tracks. Uphill. And we heard footsteps with nothing to account for them. People believe to this day, George (Narmon) will make sure you cross the tracks safely.

Pretty damn funky! I've heard footsteps upstairs in a home I owned on multiple occasions when there was not one there. I once stayed with a friend who believes herself to be a psychic and a witch, which I though was total garbage. While staying there I saw things move with no external energy source and no way to explain them. So maybe she's legit?
