Silver Aztec Calendar Round / Re-blog lottery

In the year 1518 the Spanish arrived at the Aztec capital that we now know as Mexico City, Mexico. Shortly after their arrival they found the Aztec sun stone and it was moved to a temple near the Aztec Templo Mayor (main temple.) This building was demolished and replaced by the Mexico City Cathedral. The large stone measuring 12 feet or 3.6 meters in diameter and weighs over 52,000 pounds or 24,590 kg however was left in main square facing upward until the Mexican Archbishop ordered it buried sometime after 1550 so that the memory of human sacrifices would be forgotten by the people.

The burial of the stone left it protected until it's rediscovery on December 17,1790 during the construction of sewers and sidewalks and a major cathedral renovation. The first instinct of the church was to rebury it since it was Pagan in nature. However, one man Antonio de León y Gama interceded arguing that other nations like Italy were preserving and displaying past monuments and was successful in preserving it.

Upon study in was found that the the rock used to make it was volcanic in nature and likely dragged 22 kilometers by thousands of men to have arrived at the Aztec capital. It was likely carved in the early 1500's. Interpretation is somewhat difficult since the Spanish had destroyed or buried most of the Aztec structures and built over them. As a result it is still not fully understood to this day even though it has been studied for more than 200 years. It is known to have two calendar systems one a 365 day one and a 260 day ritual cycle. The two combine together to make a 52 year century. It's believed to be a agricultural calendar since it's based on the sun, but is extremely complex. It currently resides National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City.

This silver round I'm sharing today of the Aztec calendar also has the image of Cuauhtémoc who was the last Aztec ruler, I have written a post about him quite some time back. If you're interested you can check it out here: Some Beautiful Mexican Silver Coinage!

I hope I didn't bore you with the history, but this is one beautiful silver round featuring the calendar.

About the round:
Mint: Golden State Mint, Florida, US
Composition: 99.9% silver
Year: 2018
Weight: 31.1 grams
Diameter: 39 mm
Thickness: 3 mm
Edge: Reeded
Obverse: Aztec Calendar
Reverse: Cuauhtémoc
ONE TROY OUNCE CUAUHTEMOC .999 FINE SILVER

I think it's a beauty! They aren't coins since there is not denomination value and not made by any government. These are great for collecting or stacking as premiums usually aren't too high above silver spot price. Silver and gold prices have been climbing since the start of the war in Israel, no way to know for sure if they will continue but it seems likely. So in my "personal" nonprofessional opinion I think precious metals are a great investment right now, but remember I'm not a financial advisor and this isn't financial advice, just the opinion of some guy on Hive...

Thank you to everyone out there in the Hive community for being so supportive and being such great and friendly people. I really do appreciate it. If you have any suggestions, questions, or comments please feel free to leave them below. Have a great weekend!

And my disclaimer: Gold and silver stacking can be a fun hobby but isn't for everyone. You can lose money. I'm not a financial advisor and this isn't financial advice, please always do your own research before spending your hard earned money.

I’ve always been impressed with the reverse of this Silver coin!😊
I have several of these coins, and I discovered that the Silver mining company Avino has minted a coin with this exact Aztec calendar, such detail !😊

They aren't too bad at one ounce, but larger ones cost a lot more. For the future when you're less stressed and occupied!

Yes, I definitely need to put every euro towards moving now. Especially if it turns out to be a not fully furnished home. For now the biggest problem is the number of scam ads and high demand. I have alerts set for several platforms and try to check them instantly, but so do others. The right one will come soon though, it has to, lol.

That makes three of us lol. I have literally been on top of every new listing until a few hours ago when I got fed up and decided to focus on something else for a change. Need to get feedback from the accountant first so his legal department can advice us best.

I had another scammer today sigh, these people are sickening!
