Feminized Lemon Kush Indoor Update #1
What's up my fellow Cannabis Lovers and Enthusiasts!? It's time to welcome you all back to another edition of:
Even though I've been working on this draft for a little while (I can't believe this almost 3000 words long!), I recently polled my followers on Twitter, and asked which specific strain update they wanted to see next! Only 5 votes were cast, which was awesome to me as a newbie to Twitter, and the winner was Lemon Kush! So here we go! :)
In my last Irvine Seed Company Tester Update, I had just finished transplanting all of my ISC seedlings, and placed them back inside of our temporary closet setup, which only contained this exact, very basic, 60W indoor grow light.
However, with how well this Feminized Lemon Kush Photoperiod plant started doing afterward, I had to make a post specifically about her!
Let's start out by looking at one of the last pictures I shared of this specific plant, just as a reminder of what she looked like just a few short weeks ago! This specific picture was taken on November 21st, and was one of the last looks we saw of this girl before this update!
To be honest with you, I really didn't know if she was going to make it or not, but I was a little hopeful with that little bit of new growth at the very top.
After the transplant, she definitely started to perk up a little bit, and started to sport some vibrant new growth! She was still small, but she was definitely starting to bush out and show strong signs of life! The following picture was taken on November 28th, only 1 week after she was repotted!
I had a lot of stuff going on around the house for Thanksgiving and family matters so I wasn't able to take as many pictures in between the transplant and the last picture.
Unfortunately, my father-in-law was the victim of a hit-and-run right only a few days after the transplant. All in all he broke his collarbone, both his hip and pelvis, several ribs, some "minor" damage to his spine, and to top it all off, bleeding on the brain!
Luckily, even after sustaining these brutal injuries, he is home and starting to do a little better after having a new trial procedure performed. He was actually the 36th person to ever receive this new pelvic procedure, which I'm going to do some research about to share with you all at some point haha.
Anyways, the picture above was taken right after I moved them into the tent on the morning of November 29th, with the following picture being taken on my birthday, November 30th! This overnight improvement was enough for me to start working on this update draft!
I also gave her a drink of 1 cup of degassed water, although she didn't look like she needed a drink, but with how well this small planter is draining, I'm not sure how much moisture the dirt is actually retaining!
Since this specific Lemon Kush strain is a photoperiod strain, she isn't stretching nearly as fast as my autoflowering testers that I have going, but it's still incredible to see how much this plant has progressed over the last few weeks!
She got another round of nutrients on the second, just to try to help with her growth a little bit! I'm not too worried about her size, but I have been using nutrients on the other plants, so why not? She only got one cup worth of the Grow Big Nutrients that I have been using on my other plants, but I only gave her a 2.5mL per Gallon mixture to see how she would respond!
Again, all of my plants are currently in a mixture of Fox Farms Brand Happy Frog Potting Soil and Ocean Forest Potting Mix , which has been underneath the center of my Sun Systems Brand Magnum XXXL Low Pro Reflective Hood which is set at approximately 5 feet above the top of this specific plant. I think I should try to elevate her slightly, but I think I'll wait for awhile before I attempt to do that!
If this is your first time visiting us here at the "Anarchist's Alcove", for the time being I am running a 600W Metal Halide (MH) Bulb, but will be switching over to a 1000W High Pressure Sodium (HPS) Bulb after the AutoFlowering Testers start to show signs of flowering! One of these days I hope to upgrade to at least a 1000W or maybe even a 1500W LED light, as this tent is about 9 feet long and almost 5 feet wide, but I would love to have the whole thing full with various plants so I might need two! 😅
I've been trying to limit how much I feed my plants, as I don't want to over water the ones in the 5-gallon buckets, but I am also trying to get the feel for what the plants look like when the need to be fed!
Even with the extreme water drainage in this specific pot, she did perk up, and grew up to the 7th node, so I decided to go ahead and top her, and see how she responded after all this amazing new growth!
I'm not going to lie to you, the toppings that I performed today were the very first time I've attempted to top a plant!
I was a little worried to mess them up, but after all the wonderful information I've received from the WeedCash Community as well as from Macronut, I followed my gut and pinched them off!
It didn't take long, but she did take to the topping well, and is continuing to make daily improvements! It was a very neat experience to see how the plant responded to being topped, and to see how the fan leaves stretch the way that they have in the next few pictures!
So, to be honest, the only reason why I transplanted her into that small of a pot was because of how little the seedling was. But now that this girl is doing as well as she is, I think it's about time to transplant this girl to a little bigger sized planter here soon!
I'm thinking about using this 2 Gallon Smart Pot that I received in the box of random grow goodies from my friend for now, although, I would use one of the 5 Gallon Smart Pots, but after recently receiving a new batch of tester beans, so I definitely need to make sure I have enough dirt to go around!
I was very pleasantly surprised to see how quickly she rebounded from being topped and how much she started to perk up! As of now, it's been a little over 3 weeks since the transplant, and just over 2 weeks since I moved it into the tent, but this girl has definitely made quite an improvement! I know the tent and the new lighting made the biggest difference, but being able to see these babies grow on a daily basis is absolutely beautiful!
I also ended up giving her a dose of the Grow Big Nutrients that I have been using, I only used 2 cups total of the 10mL per Gallon mixture that is recommended on the back of the bottle!
A little worried that I might over nute her, but also the fact of the drainage from the pot, so I gave her another drink the next day, but this time I only used 1 cup of degassed tap water! If she was recieving a little too much nutrients, this should flush it, but in any case, I just helped the substrate stay moist!
I know I said it a few times already, but topping her definitely seemed to be successful, and as you can see in this next picture, shes definitely starting to stretch out those two new tops! Hopefully, I can keep her healthy now that she is starting to fill out!
Originally, this is where I intended to end this post! But, in order to keep this update as up-to-date as possible, I'm going to go ahead and include this past week in here as well for good measure!
Honestly, this past week has been kind of busy around the house with my father-in-law finally arriving back home from the hospital, so we didn't get too much done inside of the tent other than tending to the basics! I did try to reorganize a little bit, but I still have this plant almost directly under the center of the light.
Also, I have gotten a lot better about keeping, and maintaining, an 18-6 light cycle since my last @bifbeans Tester Update! Since I still don't have a timer, I've actually just started setting alarms on my phone, but it's working just fine for now! 😆
She has still been making great growth, and I really cant believe how well it responded to being topped, and how quickly she started to stretch towards that light, and try to fill in as much as possible. In hindsight, since she was so small and had her nodes so close together, I feel like I should have just let her go all natural, but I am really glad that I finally got a little bit of experience with topping!
I didn't end up giving her another drink of water until the 9th, but I still only gave her 1 cup as per her usual! Like I said, this specific pot drains very well, so anything more than a cup ends up draining onto the floor of the tent!
For this specific reason, I really believe its time to give her a transplant and possibly add some different dirt or substrate into the mix! I did receive another round of tester beans, so I will be waiting to do that until after I get the new testers planted!
I ended waiting a total of 5 days before I gave her another drink, but this time I did give her 2 cups worth, just because it had been a few days since she got a drink! Not only has it been busy around the house as it is, I've also started exploring a few options and possibilities about being able to work from home, so I apparently forgot to take a few pictures in there
She is starting to lighten up on the bottom, and I'm wondering if this is from the nutrients I gave her, or from the pot being too small for her growing root system!
This last picture was taken on the 15th, just over 48 hours ago! I do believe it's time to give her another feeding of nutrients, because I believe she is starting to suffer from nitrogen or potassium deficiencies! If she continues to lighten in this way, she could be suffering from a calcium deficiency as well!
With that being said, her leaves are starting to lighten up in the centers of the leaves themselves! I'm unsure if this is normal for this strain or if this is truly a deficiency of some sort like I listed above, or a combination of multiple! So, I went ahead and added one cup worth of the 15mL per Gallon solution of the Grow Big Nutrients from Fox Farms just to be safe, and hoped for the best.
But, as of this point, I would like to hear your guys opinion on what you think I should do with this specific plant!
Should I keep her as a mother plant, and attempt to take cuttings for clones?
Should I just let her get as massive as possible before switching her into flowering?
Or
- Should I keep her in the vegetative state so I could attempt to breed this plant in the future?
I do have at around 55 more days or so until my current @bifbeans autoflowering tester strains are ready for harvest, so I definitely won't be starting a flowering cycle on my photoperiods before those are finished, but I want to let you all decide what happens to this girl in the end! :)
You can cast your votes below, and I will also open up a poll on Twitter for you to get an extra vote in! The most voted option at the end of the 7-Day voting period will decide the fate of this plant!
I'm excited to hear what you all have to say, and what you want to see happen to this survivor!
But sadly, that's where we'll end this update, but I hope that you all enjoyed it!

What you could always do if you want to keep it around is take cuttings then put it int on flower, and keep repeating that process until you don’t want it no more
Sorry it took so long to reply to this brother, but thank you for the suggestion! I'll definitely be doing some research on how to take cuttings for clones now!
I know there are quite a few detailed posts regarding that specific subject right here on WeedCash!! 💚
