¡Hola chicos! Espero que estén muy bien. Hoy les mostraré la increíble tarde que pasamos al lado de la familia de mi novio.
Hi guys! I hope you are doing great. Today I will show you the amazing afternoon we spent with my boyfriend's family.
Esta vez se trata de su tio Cayayo quien estaba organizando una comida para invitarnos a todos a comer.
This time it was his uncle Cayayo who was organizing a meal to invite us all to eat.
Esta comida familiar tenía como menú comer cachapas y cochino asado y luego ayudaríamos a pelar maíz. Al tio Cayayo le habían ofrecido un maíz a mitades por sólo pelarlo y degranarlo.
The menu for this family meal was to eat cachapas and roast pork and then we would help peel corn. Uncle Cayayo had been offered a corn in halves for just peeling and shelling it.
Las personas en el campo acostumbran a hacer este tipo de "negocio", tienen un producto y algunas veces ellos no pueden atenderlo, es por esto que se lo ofrecen a una persona que le interese y así ambas partes consiguen lo suyo.
People in the field are used to do this type of "business", they have a product and sometimes they cannot attend it, that is why they offer it to a person who is interested in it and this way both parties get theirs.
José se fue con su tio Cayayo directamente a la parte del asador. Me he fijado que le encantan los asados, tanto comerlo como prepararlos.
Jose went with his uncle Cayayo straight to the barbecue part. I noticed that he loves asados, both eating and preparing them.
Por otra area bien retirada de donde se hacía el asado, estaba la tía Acomar, esposa del tío Cayayo. Una negra muy alegre y llena de vida, quien preparaba magistralmente las cachapas y su mayor arte era voltear aquel tamaño de cachapa sin romperlo ni fallar. Básicamente ella ya tenía su masa lista y echaba en el budare o "aripo" bien caliente (como le dicen aquí), exparcia con su mano, esperaba a que estuviese cocido y luego le daba la vuelta, la terminaba de acomodar y la llevava a la pila de cachapas.
In another area, well away from where the asado was being made, was Aunt Acomar, Uncle Cayayo's wife. A very cheerful and full of life black woman, who masterfully prepared the cachapas and her greatest art was to turn that size of cachapa without breaking it or failing. Basically she had her dough ready and poured it into the hot budare or "aripo" (as they say here), spread it with her hand, waited for it to be cooked and then turned it over, finished it and took it to the pile of cachapas.
A la hora de servir el cafe antes de comer encontré esta taza muy curioza, me recordó mucho a vajilla de la "Bella y la bestia" aquí les voy a dejar un fotito para que se hagan una idea.
When serving coffee before lunch I found this very curious cup, it reminded me a lot of "Beauty and the beast" crockery, here I am going to leave a picture to give you an idea.
Mi tio estuvo cortando bien pequeñito la carne y otras partes del cochinos para repartir equitativamente para todos.
My uncle was cutting the meat and other parts of the pigs very small to distribute equally to all.
Pusimos, el agua, el queso, la carne, las cachapas, un poco de chícharo pintón y la margarina, aparte de los vasos y platos.
We put the water, the cheese, the meat, the cachapas, some chícharo pintón and the margarine, apart from the glasses and plates.
Dimos gracias a Dios por los alimentos y comenzamos a comer. Todo estaba muy delicioso y yo me lo disfruté hasta no poder más, olvidamos la parte de que luego de la comida tendríamos un trabajo por hacer.
We thanked God for the food and began to eat. Everything was so delicious and I enjoyed it until I couldn't wait, we forgot the part that after the meal we would have a job to do.
Por ahí una tía dice que barriga llena no dobla, un dicho muy gracioso para mí, pero demasiado cierto. Esto lo comprobé muchas veces a lo largo de mi vida, veces donde no me controlaba y comía como hoy, hasta cubrir en mínimo espacio en mi estómago.
There is an aunt who says that a full belly doesn't double, a very funny saying to me, but too true. I have seen this many times throughout my life, times when I didn't control myself and ate like today, until I covered the minimum space in my stomach.
Luego a pesar de no querer, nos dispusimos a trabajar. Unos pelaban maíz -tarea que no quise hacer porque tenían muchos gusanos las masorcas- otros desgraban, tio Cayayo molía y tía Acomar se encargaba del producto final.
Then, even though we didn't want to, we set to work. Some peeled corn - a task I didn't want to do because the masorcas had too many worms - others husked, uncle Cayayo milled and aunt Acomar was in charge of the final product.
Nunca había desgranado maíz. pero dicen que siempre hay una primera vez para todo, hoy no fue la excepción. Últimamente hago muchas cosas que nuncs había hecho y todo esto me ha ido trayendo conocimiento y hasta puedo decir que algo de habilidad.
I had never shelled corn before, but they say there is always a first time for everything, today was no exception. Lately I've been doing a lot of things I've never done before and all this has been bringing me knowledge and I can even say some skill.
Disfruté mucho esta tarde en familia, especialemente porque son cosas que nunca pude hacer con mi familia biológica, pero que siempre quise vivir con ellos.
I really enjoyed this afternoon with my family, especially because these are things I never got to do with my biological family, but always wanted to experience with them.
