Hoy fue un día lleno de emoción y anticipación, ya que fui a buscar a mi sobrina al aeropuerto. Ella vino de visita desde Brasil, y aunque actualmente estamos viviendo en el oriente del país, cerca de la frontera con Brasil, nuestras raíces están en el occidente, en el Zulia, donde crecimos y vivimos hasta el año pasado. Amanda estuvo con nosotros durante dos semanas, y luego pasó diez días en nuestro hogar natal,en el Zulia, lo que hizo que su regreso fuera aún más especial.
Today was a day full of excitement and anticipation, as I went to pick up my niece at the airport. She came to visit from Brazil, and although we are currently living in the east of the country, near the Brazilian border, our roots are in the west, in Zulia, where we grew up and lived until last year. Amanda was with us for two weeks, and then spent ten days in our native home, in Zulia, which made her return even more special.
La mañana comenzó temprano. A las 8 a.m., tomamos el autobús hacia el centro de la ciudad para hacer algunas diligencias. El aire fresco de la mañana y la emoción de ver a Amanda pronto nos llenaron de energía. Durante el trayecto, conversamos sobre lo que haríamos en el día y lo que más esperábamos de su visita. Mi novio, José, también nos acompañó, aunque tenía que hacer una diligencia por su lado y más tarde nos encontraríamos de regreso a casa.
The morning started early. At 8 a.m., we took the bus downtown to run some errands. The fresh morning air and the excitement of seeing Amanda soon filled us with energy. During the ride, we chatted about what we would be doing for the day and what we were looking forward to most about her visit. My boyfriend, Jose, also accompanied us, although he had to run an errand on his own and would later meet us on the way home.
Al llegar al centro de la ciudad, decidimos pasar por algunas tiendas para ver licuadoras ya que mi tía quería comprar una. Hicimos una parada en Daka, donde miramos varios modelos y discutimos sobre cuál sería la mejor opción. La tienda estaba llena de gente, y el bullicio del lugar nos hizo sentir aún más animados. Después de Daka, recorrimos un par de tiendas más, disfrutando de la variedad de productos y de la compañía mutua.
Upon arriving downtown, we decided to stop by a few stores to look at blenders since my aunt wanted to buy one. We made a stop at Daka, where we looked at several models and discussed which would be the best option. The store was full of people, and the hustle and bustle of the place made us feel even livelier. After Daka, we walked around a couple more stores, enjoying the variety of products and each other's company.
Una vez que terminamos nuestras diligencias, nos dirigimos al aeropuerto. Aunque quedaba cerca de Daka, decidimos tomar un bus para llegar más rápido. La emoción crecía a medida que nos acercábamos, y no podía dejar de pensar en el abrazo que le daría a Amanda. Al llegar, nos encontramos con un ambiente lleno de viajeros y familias esperando a sus seres queridos. Sin embargo, tuvimos que esperar un poco más de lo esperado, ya que el vuelo se retrasó.
Once we finished our errands, we headed to the airport. Although it was close to Daka, we decided to take a bus to get there faster. My excitement grew as we got closer, and I couldn't stop thinking about the hug I would give Amanda. Upon arrival, we were met with an atmosphere full of travelers and families waiting for their loved ones. However, we had to wait a little longer than expected, as the flight was delayed.
Durante las dos horas de espera, aproveché para recorrer el aeropuerto. Observé a las personas que llegaban y partían, cada una con sus propias historias y emociones. Me detuve en algunas tiendas, miré los souvenirs y disfruté mirando los locales mientras pensaba en lo que le contaría a Amanda sobre su tiempo en el Zulia. La espera se sintió larga, pero la anticipación de su llegada mantenía mi ánimo en alto.
During the two-hour wait, I took the opportunity to walk around the airport. I watched the people arriving and departing, each with their own stories and emotions. I stopped at a few stores, looked at souvenirs and enjoyed browsing the locals while thinking about what I would tell Amanda about her time in Zulia. The wait felt long, but the anticipation of her arrival kept my spirits high.
Por fin todos los que esperaban a los pasajeros se movieron a la zona en donde ellos salen con su equipaje, para resivirlos. Ana, mi cuñada vino a traernos a Amanda primero antes de retirar su equipaje y mi tía Bere y yo la abrazamos fuertemente. Ella miraba a los lados buscando a nuestros otros familiares cercanos, al tío José, a la tía Nalvis... Ella, incluso preguntó por ellos y les dijimos que al tío lo pasaríamos buscando en el camino a casa y que tía Nalvis nos esperaba con un almuerzo delicioso.
Finally everyone waiting for the passengers moved to the area where they leave with their luggage, to greet them. Ana, my sister-in-law came to bring Amanda to us first before retrieving her luggage and my Aunt Bere and I hugged her tightly. She looked around looking for our other close relatives, Uncle Jose, Aunt Nalvis.... She even asked for them and we told them that we would pick up Uncle on the way home and that Aunt Nalvis was waiting for us with a delicious lunch.
Yo no cabía de felicidad con mi sobrina en brazos y ella estaba muy contenta también. Finalmente nos fuimos a montar en la camioneta que nos llevaría hasta la casa y mientras íbamos camino a buscar a su tío ella me iba preguntando cosas. Aproveché para peinarla, ya que su cabello volaba por todos lados y le molestaba en la cara, aparte tiene el cabello tan fino que se enreda de nada.
I was overjoyed with my niece in my arms and she was very happy too. Finally we went to get in the van that would take us to the house and while we were on our way to pick up her uncle she was asking me questions. I took the opportunity to comb her hair, since her hair was flying all over the place and bothering her face, besides, her hair is so fine that it gets tangled very easily.
Pasamos buscando a José, ella lo abrazó y besó en el brazo, algo muy común en su forma de mostrarnos afecto y camino hacia casa nos reíamos con las ocurrencias de Amanda. Ella nos enseñaba algunas cosas que había aprendido en el Zulia, algunas palabras groseras, algunas expresiones coloquiales y sobre todo nos hablaba de los tíos que había conocido allá.
We passed by looking for José, she hugged him and kissed him on the arm, something very common in her way of showing us affection, and on the way home we laughed at Amanda's witticisms. She taught us some things she had learned in Zulia, some rude words, some colloquial expressions and above all she told us about the uncles she had met there.
Me encanta ver como cada vez nos conoce más y aprende mucho, es y será una niña muy inteligente amada por muchos.
I love to see how she is getting to know us more and more and learning a lot, she is and will be a very smart girl loved by many.
