A Visit to Village's Crop Field
Hello friends!! Well come to my blog.
Recently I visited a village called Dhatrigram. One of my aunts lives there. She is a farmer. It's been long ten years approx. I did not visit her. So, she invited us to visit there. She also mentioned if specially I didn't go this time, she would very angry and she would never come to our place. My mom also pressurised me and in spite of having a tough routine , I was made to join them.
Last week I shared with you pictures of the Village Fair.Today is time for to know about their crops and vegetables they grow for the their living. It was great time there spening with greenaries. It is time for jute cultures. Where ever I could see, I saw only jute plants. You can see a vast land of jute plants in the pictires given below.
View through the jute stems👇
We, couple of our brothers, were walking along the aisle. As we entered deep, we found a less denser filed. Different kind of vegetables were seen there. I took a few pictures of them. The most unique one among them was pointed gourd , regional name is patala. This is a vegetable we eat regualarly. I have never seen cultivation of pointed gourd. It was unique to me because it was grown not over land; rather a few meter above the ground. The struckter they made for the vegetables to grow was made of jute stciks, obtained after separating thread from it.
I asked my cousin if he knew about the process to grow this vegetable. He was well aware about it. He told me a few facts of about growing pointed gourd. He told me that they had to make man made pollination to grow them. I wanted to know further and he added they manually help their buds to touch others for pollination. He also added the process generally is done by insects. In many cases there are less number of insects for the job , they have to do it manually occasionally. That's a intersting fact.
There are other vegetables like maize🌽,brinjal, bean, lady's finger etc. I took a few pictures of them. This is off-season for them; so there were not massive production of these vegetables but between jute plants , I could see a few of them occasionally.
Brinjal and it's plats :
This is called pui shak( Malabar spinach)
(Entire plant is edible):
Plants of maize, bean and lady's finger:
This is one kind of weed but village people told me that the flowers you can see , can be use a drug. You have to rub it on your hand and then smell it 🤓🤓
The only place that I saw empty was this one. Probably it was prepared for something else to grow
This is off -srason for Onion 🧅. My aunt saved some oninons for reproduction. They kept them hanging. It was hung because it will survive till its season comes. Not only that they also store rice 🌾 for the entire year. They sold maximum quantity of them but store the rest for consumption throuh out the year. They don't buy anything that grow in crop filed.

[Jute thred are also stored ]👆

The selfie is taken at the Dhatrigram Railway station.

Thanks man for visiting.
Wide field! So many plants growing too!
Yeah It's a vast croft land. It is just time for jute cultivation. It would be more beautiful if it were other crop seasons.
