🇪🇸 ~ Estoy preocupada. Desde las 4:40 am del día de hoy no hay electricidad. Otra vez ocurre un apagón general en Venezuela y me siento... extraña.

🇺🇸 ~ I am worried. Since 4:40 am today there is no electricity. Once again there is a general power outage in Venezuela and I feel... strange.

Extraña, porque me siento triste, decepcionada, pero no tengo ansiedad. Siento es como una resignación tranquila, deprimida, de quien ya ha vivido un momento difícil pero sabe qué hacer para sobrellevarlo por experiencia, aunque me hubiera gustado estar mejor preparada.

Strange, because I feel sad, disappointed, but I have no anxiety. I feel like a calm resignation, depressed, of someone who has already lived through a difficult moment but knows what to do to cope with it from experience, although I would have liked to be better prepared.

Al inicio de este mes lo estaba, justamente temía que sucediera un apagón general y había preparado la alacena, la cantidad de medicamentos, agua, comida para gatos y un extra de efectivo... Pero me confíe y ahora debo sentarme a contar los recursos en casa, porque no sabemos cuánto durará esto. La vez pasada fue más de 1 semana sin electricidad.

At the beginning of this month I was, I was just afraid of a general blackout and I had prepared the cupboard, the amount of medicines, water, cat food and extra cash.... But I got complacent and now I have to sit down and count the resources at home, because we don't know how long this will last. Last time it was more than 1 week without electricity.

Otro motivo de preocupación es que de a ratos tengo señal en el teléfono, la señal es intermitente y por ende los datos no están funcionando, y sin electricidad, ni el modem ni el router funcionan, pero me he podido informar un poco con la señal amiga de unos vecinos (que han encendido un rato su planta eléctrica, pero que no pueden mantener encendida todo el día porque no sabemos la situación en las estaciones de servicio por gasolina o gas):

Another cause for concern is that from time to time I have a signal on the phone, the signal is intermittent and therefore the data is not working, and without electricity, neither the modem nor the router works, but I have been able to inform myself a little with the friendly signal of some neighbors (who have turned on their power plant for a while, but they can not keep it on all day because we do not know the situation at the gas stations for gasoline or gas):

"No hay electricidad en 20 de los 24 estados que tiene Venezuela...", es decir, el 80% de Venezuela esta sin servicio eléctrico.

"There is no electricity in 20 of Venezuela's 24 states...", i.e., 80% of Venezuela is without electricity service.

El pasado "apagón nacional" nos dejó profundamente traumados a todos los que lo sufrimos, especialmente a los que vivimos en zonas que fueron objetivos de saqueo.

The past "national blackout" left all of us who suffered it deeply traumatized, especially those of us who live in areas that were targets of looting.

Son días que recuerdo con mucho pesar e impotencia, incluso escribí una larga nota sobre eso pero nunca la publiqué, deje pasar unos días para respirar y cuando volví a leerla me pareció demasiado cruda.

These are days that I remember with much regret and helplessness, I even wrote a long note about it but I never published it, I let a few days go by to breathe and when I read it again it seemed too raw.

Porque durante ese apagón nacional, todos los vecinos literalmente tuvieron que organizarse para hacer rondas de vigilia en los techos de las casas mas altas de la urbanización, todos con armas de fuego por la amenaza de que grupos de saqueadores se acercaran a estas casas... Fueron días muy tensos en dónde todos tuvimos que estar en constante vigilancia y estado de alerta, sobre todo por la noche.

Because during that national blackout, all the neighbors literally had to organize themselves to keep vigil on the roofs of the highest houses of the urbanization, all with firearms because of the threat that groups of looters would approach these houses.... They were very tense days where we all had to be in constant vigilance and alertness, especially at night.

Recuerdo a la gente pasar de a cientos por la avenida más grande cerca de aquí, que puedo ver cuando subo al techo de mi casa, y fue una escena muy surreal de gente en oleadas cargando cajas enormes y sacos de distintas cosas.

I remember people passing by the hundreds down the biggest avenue near here, which I can see when I go up to the roof of my house, and it was a very surreal scene of people in waves carrying huge boxes and sacks of different things.

Mucho de lo que llevaban era comida robada de mercados pequeños y grandes, que por cierto no se recuperaron de los daños y perdidas y tuvieron que cerrar; también mucho de lo que veías eran artículos que no son de primera necesidad, como cauchos de vehículos de maquinaria de construcción...

Much of what they were carrying was food stolen from small and large markets, which by the way did not recover from the damages and losses and had to close; also much of what you saw were items that are not basic necessities, such as tires for construction machinery vehicles...
