Taking back control ~ paper style

Back in my heyday of being a Projects Manager I could have 30 projects on the go and know the status of all of them at any one time.

Now though 🤣 I think I struggle with more than 3 things on the go at any one time lol!

I used to have paper folders stacked up on my organised chaos of a desk and knew exactly where everything was.

It really was a case of there is method in my madness

As some of you will know I do love the cryptoverse and am forever undertaking the participation in incentivised testnets.

The hardest part about them is usually checking the blockchain they are on and who the project leaders are and if the claimed funding is really in place or not to see if it is legit, or as legit as can be in this crazy crypto world of ours!

Consistency is the key

Successful completion of these testnets depends on consistency. You usually need to be completing tasks on a daily basis. Often it only takes you five minutes, but you need to be doing that five minutes everyday!

untitled.gif

Just like Hive and so many things in life, it is all about turning up and being consistent about it!

So when we were in town on Saturday at a shop called The Works I spied this on a pile of notebooks.

image.png

I just had to get it!

Mrs T was ooh I could use the paperclips to make such and such and use the bulldog clips to do this that and the other!

Paper To Do over Digital To Do!

Call me old school, but if I want to complete something then a to do list needs made, I have always been like that. Mind you I could often keep a To Do list in my head, I certainly was useless when I put a To Do list together digtally.

The problem with digital things is that you need to access them. It is much easier seeing that piece of paper on your desk staring at you saying just do it you fluffing numpty!

A digital lifestyle, yeah I get parts of it, but other parts of my lifestyle sure ain't digital!

So when I showed the weekly planner for £4 to Mrs T she was hell yeah get it, and while you're at it get this ....

image.png

... this being a clipboard.

It will stop the papers getting lost or ruined wth coffee was her reasoning.

Well fair enough, you don't argue with a woman when it comes to organisational things, at least in my experience you don't.

So this morning, in between writing this post, having a coffee and watching HUMANS I started to fill in the planner.

image.png

It seems weird to track things again on paper.

What is it they say ....

Sometimes to Move Forward, We Have to Go Backward

In a way it reminds me of the words of the late great Martin Luther King, Jr.

My friends, all I’m trying to say is that if we are to go forward today, we’ve got to go back and rediscover some mighty precious values that we’ve left behind.

For me I feel I am back going forward again!

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the new week ahead!

You were obviously a different calibre of PM to the types I work with these days who can barely handle one project at a time and cry if they have two!

Same with mine; in order to complete a task or something, I need to make a to-do list on paper and place it in front of my mirror. Seeing it whenever I am looking in the mirror, it remains me that I have work to do.

Wow, that is a lot of projects for one PM. Did you have an assistant at all? Like a journeyman or something.

Back a while ago I bought a journal book to start journaling and writing my to-do list on. It is still sitting unused. Guess I need to break it out before the Mrs. breaks my neck eventually.

I would often have quite a few studies that engineers were working on, so not all in the construction phase. But yes had various helpers.

Hehe I bought a journal to do book, and yes that did not get used, at least this I figure I can make it work easier!

It looks handy for sure. I could have used something like that back in the day.

Old school works, Tito Ed. Digital to-do lists tend to be forgotten, hehe. Good luck with your participation in testnets. I have lost track of things, lol!

haha, I am now also doing the same thing, trying to do some testnet as well,
I am more to the digital which somehow still be forgotten sometime.
I am not that kind of organized person, and if I put the note on the paper, it might lost in the vast ocean of mess when i am at home.
!LOLZ
all the best in the testnet Tito-Ed, I am on trying on Hybrid by the way. : )

yes I think so, I just started back again this June to check on the airdrop and testnet. Have been on hiatus for a few years, and the development on the crypto world has been so fast and vast.

Maybe it's easy to have a To-do list written. But mine I just put it in my head, that's why I forget sometimes🤣.

Sometimes to Move Forward, We Have to Go Backward, few strong words friend. Paper tasking of course keeps you more committed than digital. Just as you said, when it manually stirs at you, you'll be up and running. Wishing you the best in your 'backward forward'

Thanks Dani oh so you think paper tasking keeps you more committed than digital. Interesting I thought you might be on the digital side hehe.
Backward Forward rocks 🤣

Couldn't agree with you more, desk pad under keyboard for dates and reminders plus a diary and pencil in 0.7 or those darnedest tasks are forgotten!

Aha you have it covered Joan, am glad the same methods work, because yep those tasks do get forgotten all too easily!

I'm with you on having paper and pencil handy to remember tasks, I find it more practical. At least for me. Kind regards and nice week to both of you 🤗.

It is much more practical I think, and also easier to remember when you see it, digital can be hidden away and all too easily forgotten about!
Thank you and have a wonderful new week.

Well sometimes to know our mistakes we really have to g ok backward to see where it started and coming from. Nice clipboard by the way makes things les forgettable

I also prefer paper over digital because I easily get distracted when using my phone. The next thing I know, I find myself scrolling through social media instead of doing my tasks 😂. Do you consider using a whiteboard instead of paper? They're reusable, unlike paper, which costs you over time.
