Surfing and gold bars on Seafield beach in Scotland

Hello Hello Hivians

Wednesday is a great day to post about a walk and today is no different. We are heading down to the beach here in Kirkcaldy.

Actually I got lamblasted with a summer cold so this is a day late!

Note that this walk was after some rain and winds! We are going to have a wee bit of everything!

Let's go and explore

Beach walk.png

image.png

Did you know that we had our very own Banksy? Hehe okay maybe not, but this sure brightened up one of the Churchill barrier concrete blocks.

They are about a metre in width so this was a biggish toy truck!

image.png

But we are here to walk on the beach not talk about Banksy inspired toy tonka truck drawings on concrete blocks!

image.png

We ventured onto Seafield beach just beside the Morrison's supermarket.

image.png

Erosion with the weather taking place as some of the grassy dunes have been laid bare so to speak.

image.png

Whenever we go to the beach at low tide and Mrs T is with me then it will be a case of looking for interesting things, be it pottery shards or coloured sea glass.

It also means picking up plastic ...

Please do our planet a favour and if you ever see plastic when you are out walking anywhere, pick it up and throw it in a rubbish bin ....

image.png

A big plastic hook thing ... Do you know what it was? I didn't into the recyle bin at home it went though.

image.png

We ended up having a good chat with thie wifey and her cute wee dog.

Turns out she makes alot of art with the the things that she finds and showed us so many pics of what she made on her phone!

image.png

Her pup one was one cute wee fluffer!

image.png

There was a wee swell running, but it was not as rough as it had been.

image.png

The birds of course never mind the weather, there is food in that water so they are always watching and waiting.

image.png

One thing that the rough weather does is stir the sea up and then translates into things getting moved and displaced on the beach.

Next thing I know, I get a shout from Mrs T

"I found a gold bar!"

image.png

She can be a joker, can Mrs T.

I come rushing over to find the gold bar is a bloody yellow tile.

Ah well it was in good condition, I shall give that to her!

image.png

That view tho....

image.png

I took a few panoramic pics.

image.png

There was someone watching me, wonderful what the fluff I was doing!!!

image.png

Mind you he could have been watching the wind turbine ....

image.png

Even though my background is in the Oil and Gas Industry, I do love wind and tidal energy generation!

image.png

This drilling rig has probably seen the last of its days on active duty.

image.png

Or the pup might have been looking at something in the water that caught my attention ....

A black blob ... what was it?

image.png

A surfer!

Well a paddler getting into position.

Of course I thought of riverflows and her surfing. I wonder if she has done any in Europe!

image.png

Then he got into position and waited ....

We meanwhile , carried on with our beachcombing!

image.png

That time of the morning is mostly doggie exercise time, as this lady I presume was a dog walker as she had a motley crew indeed.

image.png

We close up with some scenic shots.

image.png

Across the water from us is Edinburgh, which got flooded last week with all this rain!

image.png

I leave you with nature at her finest...

The clouds in the sky,can you see the mountain peak, and the rolling waves in the sky?

image.png

I loved the light rays on the beach from the different clouds, it looks like they were pillars!

image.png

This post is also my last May 2024 walk for #wednesdaywalk which was started by the wonderful @tattoodjay.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

All images and ramblings are from me, the mad Scotsman TengoLoTodo and from my April walk in Kirkcaldy in Scotland. Photos taken with my Canon HS70 Powershot bridge camera.

Those are some lovely scenic shots from Scotland Ed, it is great to live near the coast and have a beach nearby. Great work on helping the environment. This is the same spirit we have in the Clean Planet Community.

Thanks Steve, yeah picking up plastic is a decent thing to do. The amount of drinks bottles is ridiculous. Being on the coast is a must, it is my calming environment. Thanks for the pick :)

hehe don't you start ... Mrs T is wanting us to adopted a greyhound.

You had a pet dog back then right? So why not have one?

It's gonna be a good companion to walk around.

That is one benefit of greyhounds, they are the worlds fastest dog, so they sprint but are very docile. An hour a day total is more than enough

I checked what greyhound dogs look like and why Mrs T wants it? It looks tall and scary, 😨

Expensive too 🤣

We have always had big dogs. These are smaller than what we are used to. People race greyhounds although it is less common. When they stop racing they are abandoned, so there are shelters of rescue greyhounds and there is one not far from us. Infact I meet a couple on my walks. I will show you a pic next time

Ah like K9 dogs?
They are trained but once retired opted for adoption.

Then what are you waiting? Have one na!

The sea looks pretty rough there, you guys tend to get the worse of the weather, but I imagine that's nothing compared to what you've probably experienced on the past out at the rigs

hehe oh yes offshore in the winter was fluffing scary. The so called hundred year storms that happened more than once! Waves are mesmorising though, I love them and the sea.

I was so close to believing it was actually a gold bar! Hahahaha Nice one!
I'm so envious... I also want to walk around the beachside!

I'll follow your suggestion, I'll pick up a plastic whenever I find one during a walk.

I love the view of the beach and the beautiful ocean and its wave. Somehow, it is calming to me.

Seems to me like you had a lot of fun

The sea to me is calming, even if it is rough weather I still find it calming!
Thank you, if we all picked up litter then the world would be so much better. I remember when I worked in Africa I would get local kid to help me clean up litter!

Can a gold bar actually be pushed down the river bank?. I am just wandering because it's heavy and is supposed to sink beneath.

Also, it's good to pick up the plastics, little contributions counts much.

Hehe yeah a gold bar I think would be buried in the sand, but depends on the storm, I have seen massive tree trunks moved...
Yeah every little bit helps...

Wild and windy beach walks are the best. Nice job collecting the litter. We do the same along rivers locally, towpath or on the water.

Yes!!! Feeling a bit fragile? Let’s hit the south coast- Portsmouth area in my case. So many Sundays in my little Mini with a bunch of mates. The Prodigy playing full whack on my car stereo cassette player.

You piqued my curiosity with the gold bar.
I plan a few trips to the beach in the late summers to exercise my Metal detector.
For my fun I find keys, loose change, junk jewelry, gum wrappers, pens, bottle caps, beverage cans, a knife, a folding shovel, even a working cell phone that the original owner hung up on me. I guess he didn't want his phone back. At least I could get the 10 cents deposits from each of the beverage cans.
The rule followed by Metal Detector enthusiasts is to always properly dispose of the refuse we find, recycling preferred. And I can keep the change as I enjoy some beach air.

Ah a bit of clickbait with the gold bar, although Mrs T did have a North American glint in her eye. Being an American here she is forever getting teased, so anytime she can get her own back she will.
We just stick to using our eyes and feet etc but we do watch a few metal detectorists on youtube. A working cellphone that is pretty cool, can't believe he didn't want his phone back.
They stopped doing deposits on beverage cans years ago here, I sometimes wonder if they brought them back whether less people would litter!
Love the metal detector enthusiasts rules!

Ahhh. What a sight! If I was there, I may just wander around for a while before going home. I’ll have a hammock somewhere and my camera next to me plus food. What more could could a girl ask for?

Was that your hand or Mrs. T? I almost thought you’d be rich! I mean… a gold bar!! I would be rich too 😁🙂‍↔️
