Paris Week in Fife Scotland for Market Friday

Hello Hello Hivians and Friday Marketeers!

Today we are exploring Burntisland High Street as part of Burntisland Civic Week

This week ten day long event is held every summer in the town of Burntisland in the Kingdom of Fife in Scotland.

This year I missed most of the activities as we were on holiday in Orkney but was able to capture some things!

So sit back and prepare to be amused by what we find on our travels ...

image.png

Look it's your flag Denise @dswigle and mine too for that matter! Do you know that, I have never ventured inside that wee arcade, they have little slot machines and shoot em up games etc (I can see them from the street).

image.png

In the summertime on the Links by the beach they have the carnival or fairground, which brings the tourists to Burntisland on a daily basis. It's quite the bustling wee place.

So here we are on the High Street.

Now time to get some money, cash or fiat.

image.png

That was my bank! Shame on you Trustee Savings Bank... Yet another High Street branch bites the dust.

image.png

And that window is where the ATM was and my source of cash!

So I crossed the road and got a smile on my face!

image.png

Summer and flowers...

image.png

The words said it all.

image.png

And one of the joys of shopping on the High Street is the flower displays.

image.png

image.png

Do you see the bunting ...

image.png

After all I did say "Paris Week in Fife Scotland for Market Friday" in my title ...

image.png

This was the shop window that had our wise words flowers sign!

image.png

Oh la la there is that bunting again!

But what a sign on the window you say...

Let's look!

image.png

Did you spot any French inspired objects in their windows?

Well does Champagne count?

image.png

And those flowers again, who could resist a snap, and the best bit, that joy cost £0.00, yep the big zero the ultimate bargain!

image.png

You can see how busy it was, which of course is great. Too many UK town high streets are becoming like ghost towns. Perhaps the fact it is all local businesses who stick together and act like a community helps.

Now I had to cross the road again.

image.png

Do you see the two trees?

image.png

I do love the metal bases surrounding the trees.. Can you see what is swimming round the tree?

image.png

Yes, shoals of wee fish or fishes swimming round and round. I do love how fishes is now the norm!

There is a wonderful fishmonger on the High Street where I used to get my filleted haddock and also scallops from!

image.png

You can check on the events here that took place
The Venue: Burntisland High Street.

image.png

Do you see the blue and white sign on the right, that is our national lottery logo, so I had to pop in and get a ticket.

image.png

Today had been a day of window shopping and flower gazing!

Hey, we don't have to always spend money to have fun right?

image.png

What do you spy beside the OLIVE TREE cafe (which unfortunately was not open yet)?

image.png

Yes ice cream or actually Mr Whippy, of course I had to have one, and that was expenditure all £3.00. But tasty it was.

image.png

And on the way home, I get to see the perfect view, I just love this house the view and the gorgeous two horses.

This is my post for #MarketFriday by @dswigle for the Market Friday community

That looks like a lovely day on the high street. Does it cost 3 pounds for a Mr Whippy these days?!

High Street outing, pleasant day out enjoying the people and all offered in the town, nice the wee town comes alive in summer with much to do, finishing off with a soft-serve still some money exchanged hands there....

House on the hill a keeper, what a brilliant spot to enjoy the view with horses to ride back and forth through the dales.

They are cool, and it makes it look a wee bit different as if the council actually cares about something and does things for a change.

Aye, that is something that is often missing from anything the council (doesn't matter which one) does!

Yeah, although here they have found the way to save money here. Chop all the fricking trees down in the parks and pull up the flowers and shrubs, hey ho no more maintenance that way. Not sure what is like over your way.

That's shit. Thankfully they haven't done that here. I would be raging as no doubt everyone would be. I hate it when they do that nonsense

What a beautiful place! When I head to Scotland I'm doing it in the summer, it looks so nice. Maybe next summer, I've been contemplating a European vacation for a couple years now.

Scotland is beautiful in the right weather lol and the summer is hit and miss. If you are flexible on where and when you go in Europe you can follow the good weather around!

That's the rub! Flexibility, doesn't always work well unless one is retired!

Love your photos, Ed! I like small towns and especially when they are in "festive clothing" 😃...

Btw, I like it more with that nicely decorated window than with an ugly ATM... :) You don't need at ATM, you have crypto! :)

Starting immediately, #MarketFriday will be paused for a period of time. I want to thank you for your support along the way and I look forward to seeing you back when I resume the posting concept.

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

#MarketFriday loves you!
