DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND DO IT OFTEN

Hello Hello Silver Bloggers and everyone else hello!

It's been a minute as they in some parts of the world. I have been reading and curating some wonderful posts recently on what people will be doing in the coming decade.

So with suitable FOMO I jumped on the bandwagon and pitched some ideas of my own together based loosely around my life's motto.

All will be revealed in due course, he says with a mad laughter!

Today is NOT A Monday but I thought it was about time that I joined in again for the Memoir Monday initiative that was created by @ericvancewalton
You can catch his original post here or the prompt for this Memoir Monday #30 (9/30-10/6) -

How do you plan to spend the next decade of your life??

image.png

First things first ...

I am a firm believer of living in the Now

... but of course we still have to do some forward planning.

I can answer the question almost with a more of the same answer.

Some of you might know my wee signature motto at the end of all my posts.

To put in text form....

DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND DO IT OFTEN

Well like so many things in life I was not the first to say it and in fact I borrowed it from a coffee house in town.

The whole quote does in fact read ....

THIS IS YOUR LIFE DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND DO IT OFTEN

It belongs to the wonderful Bob and Berts which is a small chain originating from Northern Ireland I believe.

Which brings us nicely to the Big Fish in Belfast

I grew up in Belfast and only left her when aged 5 due to The Troubles.

My mother forbid me to go University there so it was only after she passed did I go back to my childhood home. We do listen to our mothers I think..

Travel

I have been fortunate to have lived in 69 countries and I would love to retrace my steps and go visit some of them with Mrs T.

For work I spent many thousands of hours in planes and helicopters, and now I cannot stand them, I can't stand airports and the hassle that goes with it all now!

Our last flight was last year on a trip back to Orkney,a group of beautiful islands off the North coast of Scotland.

So yes apart from going to the States I don't see my flying much more, there are other modes of transport after all!

I love history and archaeology and we are lucky living in Britain as we have so much of it on our doorstep. Although Mrs T has been here since 1997 we kept wandering off abroad so there are so many places here which we are yet to explore together.

What a view that is! It's even higher up than my drone can go!

So yes plenty of travel and being a tourist in Scotland and the rest of the UK

image.png

Apparently wee Ted informed me that he has had enough of planes and justs wants transport closer to the ground ...

So yes we love travelling by train and of course boat too!

image.png

Money and Side hustles!

I get bored easily and love to keep doing new things. Often they are for money or in the last few years crypto.

That will not stop, in fact it will probably become even more of my time in the latter part of the decade to come.

After all I need something that brings in money that keeps indulging me in my love for good food!

Photography

I love being outdoors and I love feeding the wildlife and of course asking them to be models for me.

Which reminds me I have not written about the adventures of Eddie Wildlife recently...

Really where does the time fly to?

So I shall leave with a picture of the most gorgeous wee cygnets that I captured in Orkney last year.

Yes my only problem is that there is so much of what I do that I love!

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the new week ahead!

Good advice Ed as time goes so quickly and you may not do some of the things your really wanted to do. Belfast is a really interesting city to grow up in, wasn't George Best from Belfast?

Oh yes George Best was one of the famous sons of Belfast, they even named one of their airports after him Steve.

I do take your advice. I will endeavor to live in the now. Time is too short to waste around. Doing what one knows how to do and doing it well is the key. Thank you for the advice

Not sure long term planning is viable, too many changes in the world, an annual plan is tough enough.

Keeping some money rolling in, we eat, need a home with some little added extras called holidays!

Flying anywhere is not great, no matter how friendly or good an airline is, simply feels like a sardine can, getting you from here to there, definitely not exciting as it once was.

!LUV have a great day and to what you love never change!

Oh yes, you have got that right, the seats and leg room are smaller, they do pack you in like sardines now!

That will not stop, in fact it will probably become even more of my time in the latter part of the decade to come.

We will have more time to spend and it will be nice to see our account status grown to a nice level by then.

I love me a good meat market. Some of those names though. I would be totally lost. I have a feeling if I looked really hard I might be able to tell what it was based on the cut. I want to do one of those river cruises in Europe sometime I think. They look fun and less like a pandemic than the big cruises.

Hehe yeah I know you would be in heaven at that particular butchers, he wins awards and has so many things. The cuts though would give it away apart from some of the premade things. For example at the front was beef olives and I am not sure you make those.
European river cruises are cool and laidback. I have done about five or six over the years.

Wow, that does sound pretty amazing. I will have to wait and see if things settle down for my wife and I at some point. I think we are just too busy right now to travel like that.

Yeah I did 2 and 3 week cruises. Much more intimate and you and the staff bond so much. Well worth doing if you have the time and money.

It's been a minute as Amie would always say🤣🤣🤣..

Okay, you do love to do a lot of things and that nice, I also get bored quickly so I'm also trying a lot of things to stay happy. When we so what we love often, we stay happy.

Hehe yes Amie would say that 🤣
Oh yes I like that, when we do what we love, we do stay happy Amie. So it's not been a minute since I was happy 🤣

I do that. Nowadays every day.

This is why nowadays I spend very little time online.

And some of my friends do not even have internet connection.

Oh yes not everyone even has or wants to be online. Good to get offline for times too!

Ahh I think I need to adapt your motto as I am a constant worrier

There are times I got stressed because of things that might happen though reality was, it might be not 😆

It if happens it happens, if something is outwith our control then I won't worry about it! So yeah worry if you can change something, if you can't then just let it be.

I like to do the things I love, but I cannot do it often. Sometimes the situation wouldn't allow me😐🙂‍↔️.

I love that Ed, am not surprised! Your enthusiasm for everything you tackle here on Hive is one of those for sure.
69 countries, that's a load of miles, no wonder you don't like flying!
Living in the now is the only way we can live, yet so many people get stuck in the past or fear the future, such a waste of precious time.
So keep on doing what you love and keep on doing it often, awesomeness young man!

You can easily say like the poet Neruda: "I confess that I have lived." Knowing so many countries has so much to tell.

Kind regards.

In favor of doing what you love, keep traveling and getting to know beautiful places. And that you share with us all those beautiful experiences. Live today, don't leave for tomorrow what you can do today. I loved all your pictures. I wish you a nice weekend and if you include a trip, so much better.🤗😁
