Day 3! Diversity and tolerance, are both always together? What does diversity mean? Is it always good? How do you teach tolerance? Were you exposed to a diverse variety of people and cultures when you where young? What are you thoughts about it now?

Brilliant topic ... I went to an international boarding school as a child and have visited 69 countries ...

So I can safely say that I have been to a diverse range of people and hence a variety of cultures from Albania to Zimbabwe and 67 others in between!

I went to the school my father and his father before him went to in Edinburgh in Scotland. When I was 10 my parents moved to the Orkney Isles off the north of Scotland. As it was only for 1 year, which turned into 6 years, I volunteered to switch from normal school to becoming a boarder!

It was fun, in my dorm I had local kids from India, Sierre Leone and now Zimbabwe. It was becoming the United Nations.

I grew up learning some of their languages and hearing about their customs and values.

My parents always instilled into me the phrase ....

We can't change our past

In school I learnt of many attrocities that had been carried out on humans by other humans!

Truly utterly Despicable acts ... but I cannot change what has gone before me nor am I guilty for something I have not done, but I can change the way I perceive people and the way I treat them. ALL countries and peoples have wronged people!

Tolerance .... If you can't say something nice then keep quiet

Tolerance .... Now that is an absolute corker.

If I want to say I think religion is the biggest scam ever invented, I will say it to myself.
If I want to say that Christianity is amazing and should be adopted by everyone, I will say it to myself.
If I want to say being a Jew is the best thing in the world, I will say it to myself.
We are all equal, no matter or colour or race or sex our political beliefs our religion,we are all equal and we all matter.

You get the picture, whatever views or beliefs that I hold, I will say them to myself.

I will not force anything upon another person.

I will tolerate what you believe as long as you do not ty forcing it down my throat or coerce me into the same beliefs.

Quite literally this means that it is best to follow the traditions or customs of a place being visited.

In other words if visiting a foreign land, it is polite, and also advantageous to follow the customs and practises of those who live in it.

We are now seeing a rise of enough is enough in Europe with immigrants not following this.

People going there and not willing to adapt.

Shame on them ... Take me when I am abroad.

If I hear a British accent I run, if I am going to a restaurant and hear British being spoken I do turn and run lol.

When you goto a restaurant do you sit down when you see lots of locals in it? I know I do.

I have always tried to at least pick up a few phrases of the language of the people whose country I am in. After all it is only polite to do so.

Cultures are fascinating, but we are in danger of losing them. It seems you are either far left or far right in views. What nonsense, why do the minority always seems to think that is what the majority is?

Live and let live I say.

Maybe I was spoilt when I was young, getting to know so many different skin colours and religions. Working abroad in so many different cultures.

I was born the same way you were and I will die just like you.

Mrs T is an American, I can actually say she really is. She is native American on both sides of her family. I have learnt so much about the first nation and indigenous peoples throughout the world.

Humans have not learnt their lesson.

Fluffing well learn to live with each other before we kill the planet we rent from Mother Nature.

You have your views and I have mine. If they don't harm my mental or physical wellbeing then I tolerate them.

Civil Wars

Boy oh boy, working in the Oil industry exposed me to the greed and corruption of people. Oil as we know is valuable. It gave rise to many corrupt politicians who fucked their countries and filled their own secret Swiss bank accounts. It turned tribe against tribe. It even turned family against family.

Be kind and respect your fellow human being.

I might not agree with what you believe in, but I sure will tolerate your views. As I expect you to do the same to me.

Apart from Rangers ⚽ of course, quite simply We Are The People.
