Strangest things for me : Economy & Death of a young lady
The first strangest thing that has happened to me is the state of the economy in our country right now. Nigerian citizens have been battling with the economy situation, but it seems there is no hope, yet people are trying their possible best for survival. People are suffering immensely; they are working so hard, but the exchange rate is just useless. Most people work hard, but the money they earn is not sufficient for what they want to buy.
For example, a man with a family whose total earnings are twenty-five thousand naira in a month. The money is not enough to meet the needs of the family, because everything is so costly that if you have one thousand naira with you as a family man or youth, the best food that the one thousand naira can buy is cassava flour (garri) with kuli, which is very disgusting to me, having the largest currency of a country and what the money can afford is garri with kuli. This is very poor for all of us.

Also, if we look at the situation of the Nigerian market and prices of commodities, there is inflation everywhere, caused by people who are skilled in manipulating prices. When the dollar rate rises, immediately the Nigerian market also rises, and after some weeks or months, when the dollar rate deflates, instead of the Nigerian market rates and prices decreasing, they remain the same or even rise further. This is a factor that has destroyed our economy, and it is usually common among wholesalers and retailers. They always quote something like, we sell what we buy though the market is with them before the inflation, they still inflate the market prices.
This is so strange to me because I remember when rice was sold at the rate of three hundred naira per rubber, but now it is two thousand and three hundred, which is unimaginable. So I would be happy if our country's economy could deflate like it did during the presidency of Umaru Musa Yar'Adua..
DEATH OF A YOUNG LADY IN THE STREETS

It was a sad moment on that fateful day in the streets when people were so sorrowful about a young lady who was killed by bandits while she was going to the market in the morning, around five o'clock. This was not her first time going to the market at the same time every week. As a market woman who sold charcoal, cocoyam, and fish along the street.
She was a pretty and cool woman who never had a quarrel with anybody and had three children. She was a single mother who took care of her children. Before this scenario, in the midnight, we heard gunshots in the streets. In our minds, we thought the police officers came to arrest the cult and drug addicts. But it wasn't the case.
When we woke up as usual, I thanked God for the protection of my life and my brother's. I didn't go to school, so I went to open my mother's shop. Later, we saw many people rushing to Idiofin Junction and some were mourning, saying, "Mummy Wasiu, ha!" She is dead. I was curious about what I heard. My mind did not think of her. Then I decided to check who the person was. But when I got there, I was shocked and cold, and I started to cry and pity her children. She was shot beside her stomach, and I saw her blood on the floor.
It was a sad moment for everyone, also strange to me because I had never seen a dead human in my life, and I hadn't heard any stories of a person being killed in our streets before, because that is where I was born.
