We're Being Ripped

I'm appalled that kids these days no longer think when asked a simple question, they rather pick up their phones, type out the question to the AI and read out the answer it generates without having their faces flushed from embarrassment. What surprises me the most is that, when they're asked how they felt reading out an answer to a simple question off something that's artificially intelligent, they shrug and go; "it was meant to aid us".

I won't be surprised if one day, a kid is asked his or her name and they pull out their phones to ask an AI. I mean lessons are no longer as interactive anymore, kids no longer ask questions in class to "know" as they feel they can always go back home and use AI to sort out homeworks. One thing they fail to realize is that this AI being an artificially intelligent machine, could generate wrong responses. They feel it can never go wrong and solely rely on it.

I believe classes was a lot fun back in the days before the Advent of artificial intelligence. This artificial intelligence is not only ripping humans of jobs but is also ripping them of intelligence quotient. Imagine asking my five year old neice a simple question whereby, if she gave it deep thoughts, she could suggest something near-correct, if not correct but instead she chosed to sneak out her mom's phone when I wasn't looking, typed out the questions to the AI and read it out to me feigning to answer the question of her own intelligence before her sister exposed her little act of cheating. My words couldn't contain my disappointment.

It's quite unfair. Kids were a lot smarter, they still are but the Advent of the likes of Chatgpt have ripped them of thinking fast or depending on their own intelligence to produce correct, near-correct or even wrong answers. It's one thing for a child to produce a wrong answer and be corrected with love than for them to produce something very correct without having a good explanation for the answer they provided.

Ai, has ripped kids of asking questions in class to understand a particular subject, it has ripped them of going back to home to study to know for themselves and it breaks my heart each passing moment as I realize that this is becoming our reality, the reality of the next generation.

Machines now do almost everything for us, we no longer find it thrilling going to soil our hands in the garden, we no longer want to pick up our own food from the counter in the eatery, nor do we want to do the grocery shopping. Machines are now doing it. Humans are literally signing off the earth and themselves to bots to rule over.

I just hope that at the end of the day, it doesn't happen like we see in movies. I hope these bots don't turn out to be worse than the dictator, Hitler. I hope that they don't turn out to be enemies of those that invented them. I hope that while the reign of AI lasts, we still have the few who finds delight in growing their own food, doing grocery shopping themselves, finding answers to questions by reasoning deep, those who will fall, dust themselves up and stand tall, those who will still write facts without the aid of AI.

May we all still have our place.

With love. Teknon.

I could not agree with you more. It is a real shame that our youth is content with what their smart device can supply them with. Instant gratification. I think the lack of having those real life experiences, and settling for the quick, brief, instant version of them, will be their demise.

I am always telling my niece and nephew to put down the phone and go live life. Go talk to people face to face. They should feel the world in it's natural form, enjoy the ride, explore the unknown, feel what it is to love and be loved, and maybe get their hearts broken.. but the process.. the unfiltered real life experiences will surly shape them to be more intelligent and emotionally available humans. Ones that would survive regardless of what life throws at them.

It's a good feeling to be able to think on my own, and be confident that my non-artificial real life experiences have made me a more adaptable person.

ugggg... okay I'm done. lol.

I'm sure they're pretty smart to know that this is deeper than just the words and letters.

Thank you so much for this thought provoking comment. I mean you've made a lot of sense to the point that if I could reblog just the comment for other people to see I'd do so.

Thank you again for finding time to read my piece. A lovely weekend to you💜

I agree for sure! That’s the dangerous part to it all. People giving up their autonomy and brain power. There’s going to be a lot of people with the inability to do anything critical but that’s exactly what the powers that shouldn’t be want, they want mindless drones.

I think the other challenge here is that it’s up to the parents to not allow the kids to use these crutches for everything. It’s okay to have to search some things but if they are allowed to do that with everything they are doomed.
