If AnoHana Were a Horror Movie (Anime AU)

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi ga Mada Shiranai (AnoHana) was one of my favotire heartbreaking anime I really enjoyed watching back in 2011. It's about a boy named Jinta who first thought was just hallucinating due to the summer heat. However, later on, he was convinced that he could truly see the ghost of his childhood friend Menma who died when they were kids.

A group of friends decided to go camping during the summer of their last year in junior high school. They've been friends and classmates since elementary, but several of them would be transfering to another prefecture during their high school.

It's their last summer together before being completely separated from each other, so they decided to make the most of it. They had this "secret base" in the woods which they diligently maintained since their childhood days.

Unfortunately, the supposed to be one of kind summer escapade turned into tragedy when one of their friends, Menma got caught in a raging river current. Or so they claimed.

Fastforward several years and the remaining friends were about to graduate high school. Some weird and disturbing incidences occurred to each of them which made them. Some of them saw a bloody Menma in their dreams, another saw a glimpse of her looking straight to his soul. The others had strange occurence which reminded them of that day.

For some reasons, they all ended up going back to where it started, their "secret base". They were all shocked to see each other again since it was unplanned and they haven't really kept in touch since the incident on their last year of junior high school.

While they were about to enter their "secret base", they saw bloody graffiti on the wall saying, "Let's play hide and seek! Anyone who's found will stay with me forever. --- Menma"

The group was then forced to play hide and seek with their life on the line. Was it just loneliness on Menma's part? Or was it to seek revenge for an untold truth from years before? How did it end up this way and what really happened that day? Find out by watching AnoHana.

I wonder what kind of monster Menma would be if she's someone to take revenge on her friends? It's hard to imagine since she's such a cutie and has the kindest heart. But who knows, right? If what happened that day wasn't an accident, but a crime? What if Menma's supposed to be "forgotten wish" in the original anime was actually a strong desire to bring everyone down with her? Wouldn't that be an interesting twist in the story?

And realistically speaking, not all of the heinous criminals are scary-looking. Some of them looks really innocent like Menma. Anyway, it's just strange, but interesting to imagine a wicked ghost of Menma trying to drag everyone down with her. What do you think?
