ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #55: My Favorite TV Shows (Non-Animated Version)
Guess who's back?? I missed the challenge last week, but I'm back to join again. This week, the ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #55 is all about My Favorite TV Shows". It is yet another interesting topic to talk about.
I remember submitting an entry about my favorite movies last time and it was so enjoyable. Anyway, let me introduce some of my favorite TV shows. The TV series I'm introducing this time are those non-animated ones. Perhaps you already know how crazy I am when it comes to anime, but I also do spend time watching some series on Netflix as well.
Let's start!!!
STRANGER THINGS
- Genre: Drama | Fantasy | Horror
- It currently has four seasons on Netflix and I have watched all of them twice. It's basically about a group of friends trying to survive from the forces of supernatural entities from the "upside down".
- I like it because it's so fun and exciting to watch. The characters are so adorable and the soundtrack is great. The setting gives you the vibes of the late 80s. Though I was born in the 90s, I can still see some stuff that brings nostalgia. The effects were also amazing, so it's more amusing to watch. :) I can't wait for the final season. I hope they release it soon.
One of Us is Lying
- Genre: Crime | Drama | Mystery
- It has two seasons on Netflix, but I've read articles of it not having a third season. It's sad, but I'm still hopeful they'd continue it somehow. Anyway, the story is mainly about four high school students who are very different from each other, but they're all entangled due to a certain crime which they may or may not be directly involved in.
- I know there are a lot of high school crime and mystery series, but this is among my favorites. I like the twist and turns in this series and the characters are just so interesting. I especially like the character development of some of them. Anyway, aside from this, I also enjoyed watching 13 Reasons Why and the Mexican TV Show called Control Z. They're of the same genre.
YOU
- Genre: Psychological Thriller | Crime | Romance
- It currently has four seasons and I'm hoping it isn't the last one. It's about a certain guy who falls madly in love to the point of being obsessive, stalkerish and even murderous?
- I'm not much into the romance genre, but if the plot is something like this series, I'd totally go for it. I must say, this is really on top of my list. I'm a sucker for Psychological thrillers, and this series is so satisfying to watch. Well, partly because I love psychology and I am pretty much interested in knowing how the mind of psychopaths and serial killers work. Haha But really, this is so good that I could watch this over and over. I especially love the second and third season when the obsessive and psychopathic Joe met Love. Love will always be my favorite character in this series. <3
The Rain
- Genre: Dystopian | Sci-Fi | Thriller
- It's a Danish TV series which has three seasons. It's revolves around the lives of siblings Simone and Rasmus as they try to survive after a deadly virus carried by the rain killed almost all people in Scandinavia.
- Recently, I'm into dystopian series like this, so I've been scanning through some plots on Netflix. I'm thinking of watching more of this genre soon. I enjoyed watching The Society, but it was cancelled and abruptly ended. I also like Between, but it was too short. I'd love to watch more dystopian movies which doesn't include zombies. Despite enjoying horror and grotesque scenes, I just find most zombie movies or series boring. XD
The Haunting of Hill House
- Genre: Horror | Drama | Mystery
- This was the series which made me a fan of Mike Flannagan, alongside his other mini series called The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnigh Mass. This series is about a family who as kids used to live in a house which later became known as the most haunted house in the country. Once these siblings became adult they found themselves back in their old house to confront whatever there was in that house.
- My list won't be complete without a horror series in it, will it? I like psychological horror or thriller the most. I've been into horror films for as long as I can remember. Because of that, jump scares don't really affect me that much. I no longer get scared when watching, but this series was the first series in a while which literally made me shout. I did laugh after that because I didn't expect myself to do so. haha Mike Flannagan is really good at directing horror films to make it as frightening, yet indulging.
And those my friends are some of my favorite TV shows. Perhaps, you may have noticed the kinds of things I'm actually into based on my list. It's not a TV series, but I am also into True Crime Stories and documentaries. I guess it's because I'm very curious about the human mind and behavior? And mind you, true crime stories are much scarier than horror films.
Anyway, I'll end this post here as it has been super long already. See you around! (^^,)/
Save ko nga muna to te, balak ko kasi manood ng netflix kasi bakasyon namin ngayon haha. Feel ko magaganda nirecommend mo since may thriller. Balak ko na naman gumastos (may pambayad naman) hahahahah
Goraaaa!!! Enjoy your vacation... 😁😁😁
I watched season 1 of THE RAIN 3-4 years ago. I remember the actor who played a little brother was handsome.
I'm not a fan of grotesque or painful expressions, but sometimes I still want to watch them😓
That's right .. The little brother was indeed handsome. The rain wasn't that grotesque, but there were some gross scenes, though. haha What genre do you prefer watching? 😁
I like science fiction and have watched "Altered Carbon" on Netflix. It was interesting, although the violent language made me sick at times😶✨
Ohh.. it looks interesting. I added it on my list.. Thanks 🥰 I guess it's common for US TV series to have such language. 😅

I know your taste in films from the previous movie challenge, so I expected to see some scary things. I have a
access to a friend'sNetflix account, and watch a few things on there, but I am not familiar with anything you've shared. My youngest daughter is afraid of scary and suspenseful shows, so I have to wait til after bedtime to watch anything dark.I've heard a lot of folks talking about Stranger Things, I ought to check it out.
Ahahaha... I like how you crossed that out. I've read Netflix lost more subscribers because of the new rules. Anyway, I'm glad you remember my entry that time. Yes, I'm more into the scary and dark stuff... it's really interesting to watch.
Stranger Things is awesome. Try to watch it first and if you think your kids would like it, you may show it to them as well. There are some "monsters" but I think it's more fantasy-like that horror. The main characters are also kids-turned-teens-in-later-seasons... They may enjoy it, too. Of course, with guidance...^^
