Air Fryer Diaries: We Made Tofu and Tuna Patties!!! <3

One night, I saw mama looking at her phone intently. I asked her what she was doing and she told me she was looking for some recipes that would utilize both tofu and tuna. I did my own search and suggested we make some "Tofuna Patties" (Tofu and Tuna patties). Actually, I just had a craving for some burger steak... well, it would practically be the same, right? haha

The next day, I woke up earlier than usual because I volunteered to help. We're air frying it, so it wouldn't be that difficult and scary for me. lol

I asked mama to make the batter to stick everything together while I take care of the other ingredients.

First, I pressed the tofu and got rid of the water in it. Afterwards, I ground it like in the photo above.

I strained the canned tuna and got rid of the oil... and placed it on the ground tofu earlier. Next, I'd have to cut the available ingredients we have and mix them in as well.

We had some leftover carrots, onions and spring onions in the fridge. In addition, I took some water spinach from the garden, cut them, and dumped them in. lol

After mixing all of the ingredients, it was looking really good and colorful. I wanted to put some moringa leaves, but we recently cut our moringa plant for new and fresher leaves to grow, so I'd settle with these for now.

Mama prepared the batter. She mixed in some flour, cornstarch, black pepper, garlic powder, a bit of salt and soy milk. She usually use evaporated milk, but I told her soy milk is healthier and we happen to have some that time. haha

I gradually added the batter to the dry ingredients earlier until they reached they're sticky enough to make some patties.

We could make seven patties in total. I decided to place them in the freezer for a bit, so they'd stick better and it would be much easier to air fry later on. Anyway, we prepared this for lunch, so we had breakfast first... then, these would be good to go by the time we finished.

I placed a parchment paper in the air fryer pan and placed a small amount of canola oil. Then brushed and spread it evenly on the paper.

I made a small hole at the center so the air can flow better. I set the temperature at 170C and cooked for around 15 minutes. I checked every 5 minutes and brushed some of the sauce mama made. It's made of banana ketchup, black pepper, canola oil and garlic salt powder.

And so our Tofuna patties are done! You can eat it with rice or with bread or buns. In our case, we are going to have it with rice, so we decided to cut them into bite size bits. :)

Mama likes them well-done (lol), so I tossed them back to the air fryer after cutting and re-cooked them for a couple minutes before we enjoyed eating them.

For the three remaining patties, mama cooked them for dinner (since I had to work already) and made a creamy white sauce or dip for it. It was delicious!!!! I want to make this again, but I want to use spicy tuna next time... mama can't eat spicy food, though... so I'd have to do two separate mixes if ever.

Anyway, thanks for checking my post tonight. See you around! (^^,)/

Oh! I want this recipe too. What's the brand of the corned tuna that you have used for this recipe if I may ask?

I might emulate this one since we love tofu dishes but kinda nauumay already and this one's new in my eyes.
