A Long Weekend Room Makeover! :)
It was a very long, tiring yet fulfilling and happy weekend for me. I decided to take Monday off, so I could continue with my room makeover for three days. Well, Saturday was the preparation time while the real thing started last Sunday until yesterday.
It's going to be my birth month next month and my parents wanted to give me this room makeover as a gift in advance. This change will help me a lot not only with saving more space but also for my health. They thought sleeping on the floor isn't good especially for me who is an asthmatic. I've always been against into having a bed since it would take a too much space in my small room which is both my bedroom and my office because I work from home.
So, what's the best solution? Yes... it's using a loft bed. :) Since we have agreed about this change, they wanted me to design or show them what I have in mind because we're going to commission our carpenter friend for it over the weekend.

- This was the original design I thought of. The bed would be above. There's an L-shaped table under it, some shelves then I wanted to have some drawers as the stairs.
- I thought the drawers wouldn't be very practical, so I wanted to make the stairs into shelves instead of drawers.
- It's basically the same with the second design, but I decided to place my PC on the shorter table while the rest is for drawing or writing some stuff.
I created the design maybe last month.. Then we slowly collected the materials we need because buying them in one go would be quite heavy for our pockets. haha Once everything is complete, we asked our carpenter friend Kuya Dongkoy to come over the weekend. Unfortunately though, he's only free on Sunday and Monday, so we catered his schedule instead.
Here's what happened last weekend. Travel back with me!!
SATURDAY
Let me show you how my room previously looked. :)
The "office" is at the end of the room then my mattress is on the floor. At the bottom of my mattress are my art materials. I usually take them outside if I want to paint or draw. I sometimes do so on my mattress.
On the other end is a very small space that I could barely open the door.
And since we're going to do some major makeover, I dedicated my Saturday in clearing my stuff so it's ready for the change from Sunday.
I first got rid of the white table and placed all the stuff on my dresser.
Next is to take my PC somewhere safe. lol
I can't just take it outside since we don't have enough space, so I just hid my CPU and monitor inside my cabinet. Take a look at below.
Every thing was a mess, but it'll get better. :) Most of my things are computer parts, art materials and some anime-related stuff.
Finally got rid of my computer table. I gave it to papa because he wanted to use it as a table and storage place in the store.
Last thing to get rid of is this small storage, but I won't be able to until the change is finished since a bunch of my things are still in it. I also have to take out the paintings I placed on the wall.
Later that night, I slept on the floor of my room for the last time. :)
SUNDAY
Kuya Dongkoy and his son Junerey arrived at around 8AM. I explained to them my design or what I have in mind. It's actually his first time making a loft bed but one of his sons also asked him to make one but he hasn't really started with it, yet. :)
Papa and I sometimes assist them in making it while mama took care of Arashi (our doggy) because he's being quite territorial. hahaha We also prepared the food we could share together that day. :)
Kuya Dongkoy usually helps us with some major changes at home. He lives a few minutes away and he's been a good family friend ever since then. The same goes of Junerey since he often accompanies his papa whenever he has free time from school. He's going to be in university next school year.
In just one day, they finished this much. The bed is practically finished. All that's left to do are the office below and the stairs slash shelves. :)
Later that night, I slept on the floor with Arashi in my parents' room. hahaha It was comfy, though.
MONDAY
It's the final day... and I'm really so excited because I'd be sleeping in my room again... but on a loft bed! :D
We worked on the lower part that day. Papa and I assisted Kuya Dongkoy in the morning because Junerey had to go to school, but he came over later in the afternoon.
I got quite busy to take pictures so next few ones would be the completed version already.
It's Kuya Dongkoy and his creation! :)
We were really impressed! Especially that it's his first time making one. He asked me for some pictures so he could show other people who are interested in it. For sure, he'll have a lot of clients in the future. Thank you kuya! :)
And since it's done... It's my time to clean and arrange my stuff. Papa and I also had to cut my mattress because the original size is too big for my new bed.
After I cleaned the bed, table, shelves and floor with mama's help, we placed the mattress on top and I arranged my things. It took me the whole night to finish doing so, but it was worth it. I couldn't take any pictures while I was arranging and cleaning. I was too busy and focused that it took me a while to realize my phone was still outside the house and on our stationary bicycle. (hahaha)
Anyway, here's how it looks like now. <3
I'm really happy with this change. I am going to paint it someday... but for now, I'd have to catch up with work first. hahaha I decided to paint it myself because why not? :)
Here's what's under the stairs... it's my shelves with a bunch of anime-related stuff and some books like novels and for learning Japanese.
Just turning the chair would take me to my art corner. I need not go out and take my materials with me because I can easily do so here. Expect more sketches, drawing and paintings soon! :)
It's my work area. :) It's where I have my classes, write blogs, record something... etc :) I could relaxingly watch some movies... though I could always take my laptop anywhere for it.
It's my bed! :) I'm really close to the ceiling, but I'd basically just go up to sleep, so no worries. :)
And another great thing about it?? The picture above shows all the extra space I have. I could do a lot of activities there like dance or exercise. The space is also more than enough to cater a mattress for when my cousins or friends come over.
It was really worth it. I enjoyed my first night on my new loft bed last night... and this is my first blog using my PC in my new office. Yaaay!
Here's the final comparison. :)
Thanks a bunch for checking this post out. I hope you enjoyed my story and the transformation! See you around! <3

Thank you!!! It was indeed an awesome birthday gift... 🥰🥰🥰
Wow! It was a great make over, a great change and now you have a good space in your room and more organized now. Just be careful that you won't sleep walk and fall from your bed.
Thanks!!! And no worries, I don't sleepwalk. hahaha
