Why Hive Stands Out: A Comparison with Reddit
In this post I will discuss about the difference between Hive and the Reddit platform. You may have seen in some contents that users always compare Reddit with Hive and do share their view about it.
The first difference is that Reddit is a centralized platform owned by a private company, whereas if I talk about Hive ecosystem is a decentralized blockchain based ecosystem which is not operated by a group of people or a single entity.
Reddit works just like a Facebook. When you do share any post which is against the rules and regulations of the company, they have the authority to remove your content. But in Hive once you post it, it is stored permanently on the blockchain and no any person can remove your post.
Another major difference is the revenue and reward in the Reddit and Hive. In Reddit, revenue come from advertisements subscriptions. Whereas if I talk about Hive ecosystem, the rewards directly comes from cryptocurrency.
Curators can curate any of the post which receives an upvote and they earn Hive based tokens. These tokens can be traded, held or used within the Hive ecosystem.
If I talk about infrastructure and ecosystem, Reddit primarily focuses on content sharing and discussions, where different problems are discussed with each other and they try to bring solutions to each other, whereas Hive is more than a content sharing platform.
It includes different decentralized applications, games and tools. It's a Web 3 ecosystem which allows users with financial and creative opportunities.
The main difference which I find Hive the better platform is its decentralized blockchain based platform, whereas Reddit is a centralized platform which is not safer in this era.
THANK YOU!
Hive could work like a better version of Reddit. We just lack a competitive UI. Most of Hive UI is focused on blog form posts.
