The Final Phase.
Well Hello There Horsepower Lovers!!
The Easy Swap Out!
So a few days ago we got this Isuzu that made a comeback after about six months or so!
The guy complained that he can't select the reverse gear, now this sounded a little odd at first and we thought that an interlock might have broken!
It seems not, this interlock block is just buggered up real good, not visibly but heck it seems it is!
Now I have to get this one onto the old spot! What a hectic mission this will be just to get that fitted in!
It's a simple little thing, if one shaft pushed out it pushes the rocker arm back a little bit and then that blocks the other shaft from also moving out of place! It locks the gears in then you can't select two gears at once!
But First!
Okay so getting this entire setup out looks a lot easier than it is and you have to keep an open mind when tearing this thing down! It can get real confusing real fast!
As I said it looks plain and simple until you have to start removing one thing to get access to the other and then you have to rebuild it in that order in reverse!
But we can do this!
Twist That Brain!
Heck this thing really twisted my brain today! I am still new with the manuals but at-least I managed quite good and without bossman's help!
I got it out and I didn't make too much of a teardown! This would be the fastest any comeback has left our shop! It's crazy what a small error like this can entail to!
The entire removal of the transmission and sending it away for this little block of steel!
A Few Clips, A Few Shafts And A Few Dell Pins!
Oh and a big ass gear and selector! HECK YEAH!
I think it looks pretty neat doesn't it? All stacked out nicely and tidely! This way it's a lot easier to keep track of what is what exactly and how you removed it, this way you can see the puzzle in reverse a lot easier than you would have if everything was just strewn about!
Alright now that we've got it all removed I should probably look to getting it all back in place!
The Final Step!
Okay! This is one job less and one job that bossman thought would keep him going!
He was super glad I found that other interlock block, he had no idea where we would get one since these pickups are so damned old! I doubt they even produce any parts for these genuine or otherwise!
Hectic stuff! That's why you have to keep with the trend, now the problem with that is that it's really expensive! Ah well one less thing stacking up the table!
Let's go!
