The Bleeding Beauty
Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers
Now it's been a while since I've gotten one of these... When I say these I mean a complete mess under the hood.
I have to say usually it looks like a mess on the outside aswell, but not this one no... This is is almost in tip top shape up above and seeing that I thought well this will be a quick and fun one to do.
Of-course I went sour the moment I lifted her up.
It's a sad thing to say the least... It's usually these oaks who can't stop bragging about their cars who's cars are in the worst possible condition ever... I mean come on you won't buy a full out tar road/ flat surface car if you need to drive miles and miles of dirtroad, would you?
Well I sure as hell won't... But hey everyone has their own preference am I right?
So this is one of the jobs where the client brings his own second hand parts claiming that we have to give him a warranty on the job... Laughs what even is wrong with people in this day and age??
Like seriously? You're bringing second hand parts from a scrapyard and you expect us to give a warranty not even knowing if the parts will last? Perhaps it's still fine but it might be a hundred miles away from failure.
Come on guys.
Now I'm sure many of you oaks have seen this before... As have I, but not quite like this... This is bad, real bad.
I can't even pin point exactly where this oil leak is, and guess what. We aren't even going to look at the oil leak the customer only requested for us to change the flywheel so that's literally the only thing we'll be replacing or rather exchanging. We would recommend a clutch replacement as well I mean it's burnt blue... Dammit I just realized I didn't get pictures of that.
With that said I think I need to put the wheels back on because I started taking them off before I removed the belly plate exposing this colossal mass of dirt and grime. So of we go to the washing bay where I will hoist this car up and give it a proper power washing.
Check out this little video, it will shock you.
Now that's more like it ey? I can actually see where the bolts and nuts are located that needs removal.
You know some people wont be at all bothered by a car that looks like that, they will simply just go fourth with the work that needs to be done. Don't get me wrong this motor assembly is still very much dirty just not as much, but all those crooks and crannies that one can't get into still has a few pounds of dirt and grime on it.
By all rights this vehicle should be running a little bit faster as well as a little bit cooler than it use to. 😂
From here on forward it should be relatively easy work.. Besides the insanely massive oil leak the car is well maintained in the sense of having all the original bolts so it's no odd sizes. I say this because I know the sizes of all the bolts I need to loosen and also where all those bolts are located.
Yeah I gave it a washing up top as well, why not? I was busy with it after all.
Well this is what I meant earlier when I said I was definitely not able to get out all the grime as some are squeezed in between crooks and crannies, here are two photos representing just that it gets worse as we go deeper.
Now I wont be doing anymore power washings on this one, it is what it is. We are already over spending on what we quoted them etc pouring in some fresh oil even though we didn't charge for it, so the client is unknowingly scoring.
So I'd like to say something... I know not everyone has a mechanical side in their perks bar, but sheesh I mean you can't tell me that you can't give it a check to see if it's leaking oil or perhaps the sound has changed over the last month or so.. You can't tell me that you don't have basic life skills to be able to see or observe how something works or that, that something is giving trouble in some way.
Like a tree, it won't just fall over.. It will start to lean and lean more before falling. If this tree happened to fall on your car or any object that might cause you to get a financial strain or shock then it must surely be of your own doing? Might I be wrong or right on this?
Well she's all ready to jump out, I'll say it again these are really fun transmissions to remove and easy at that too!
This one I sadly messed up a little bit, this was one of the last photos I took before I dwindled away into my own mind or probably got busy with something else in between, and well I ended up not getting photos of the flywheel with the burnt blue clutch... we'd probably be getting her back for a clutch overall sooner than later...
Oh and not to mention how dirty the bellhousing of the transmission was, I scraped out as much as I possible could but damn I doubt that it was of much help.
It would have made such a great representation of why I think the clutch will soon fail.
