Just Like That They Say.
Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!
Out Of Nowhere.
Literally, we did a transmission overhaul on this Ford Ranger and when we moved it into the shop to prepare it for the fitment of the transmission, after that the strangest thing happened.
We pushed it out infront of the main gate of the workshop and then hooked it up and pushed the pickup in with another vehicle and while it stood on the driveway we noticed a big patch of oil spread out across the ground.
Is This Possible?
Can this really just start leaking just like that? And I mean dripping out like nothing?
I mean there are signs of oil sweating but no signs of previous oil leaks and the way it leaked out it would have legitly sprayed out everywhere.
Sheesh.
Well that looks terrible doesn't it?
It doesn't actually, for a vehicle that has seem some heavy towing. The owner even admitted that he gives his vehicles heavy stress. So I'd say kudos!
Well let's try and get all of that cleaned up.
I'd like to get those fine lines out as well, have no liking for that.
It wont sit well with me knowing that I'll be putting a new seal over the old marks?
What I will be using to clean this up is a 2500 sponge grit, I'm not sure what exactly it's called in the blue collar world. But yeah it works amazingly!
As Good As New.
She's as clean as she'll ever get, besides for being recut, but that we don't want ey.
I have to be honest, I do love these weird odities we do at the shop, it adds to the pool of knowledge overtime. And of course I welcome each drop!
That Is Beautifull.
Oh the lovelyness of new wearable parts! They always look so pretty, I swear they put more effort into the more replaced parts. Lels, but that's irrelevant.
The cool thing about Ford is if they find a pattern or a trend that works, they tend to skip along to the next one. They never really improve on anything. Such a shame.
The Last Bit, For Now.
Truth be told I do want to say that this job was done with, but I really can't. Okay well the rear crank seal replacement is done, yeah, but not the re-fitment of the transmission.
That is up next though, that and a proper and good test drive to see where she might be hurt still.
Laughs, yeah to the trained eyes, I know the bolts aren't tightened yet and to all those that don't have trained eyes. I'm sorry these pictures must be a colossal blur!
