I will always stand with relationship outside social media. I personally believe that people don’t deserve to have first hand information about your personal life. Relationship is a personal one for me and I speak from a whole lot of experience.

My Experience
Everyone was once a novice on relationship matters, especially first timers. You can’t resist the urge to make your love story public. This comes with a lot of consequences, as I was once in this kind of situation. I once had a girlfriend called Amanda and I’d always post her on my WhatsApp status, also on my Instagram story. Infact all my social media accounts, especially when we get to take beautiful pictures. I always tagged her to each post I made on my Instagram story.

Tagging her was making the public know her more by giving them free access to her dm and social media account, because most of the people who viewed my Instagram story immediately went to follow her. We all know fully well that a relationship can end at anytime, because you haven’t gotten married to that person. So in a way you don’t own her, so telling the public about your relationship is one easy way to end it.

I had this classmate that started stalking my girlfriend, ever since I started posting her on social media. He went ahead to follow Amanda, and he was all over her dm. To some extent Amanda didn’t tell me everything because they started to talk and get familiar with each other. Sometimes they went out for a drink without my knowledge. I only found out from my friends who told me how the guy boasted of taking my girlfriend out.

Also most times when I posted her pictures on my status people will enter my dm telling me that it would end in tears for me. Things like this is not healthy for a relationship. Most times if my story viewers get to see her with another guy on the road they’d immediately come telling me that they saw my girlfriend with another guy. This will only keep creating insecurities for you, and may even lead to zero trust for your partners.

Most people on social media don’t love you, and would always want to see you down. Posting your relationship on social media is not a good idea. Make it private till it is sealed, if not you could stand a great chance of losing your partner.

At the very end my relationship with Amanda broke up because of insecurities and lack of trust. All thanks to social media, and today I keep my relationship life private. To me there is no sought of promotion for relationship using social media because relationship is no business. Social media has caused more harm than good especially in this 21st century. It has been a major source of break up we experience today in relationships.

I always advice that you keep it private or stand the chance of attracting jealousy, insecurities, fear, and zero trust to yourself. I believe when a relationship Is kept private it is healthier and gives more peace of mind than publicly displaying your relationship life and story to the public on social media.

I have never been the social flaunting type when it comes to relationships, I have made posts about my relationship but not on a nonsense social app that doesn't add value to us.

Exposing your relationship to the social world will always build lots of issues like lack of trust, insecurities and others.

this is the most difficult thing to do right now. many who post their relationship on social media to the point of things that are not desirable. then the secret of the relationship is better than being exposed and known to many people.

Social media will chew through your relationship and spit it out. And you will be the ones left to pick up the ruins. It causes more harm than good where relationship is concerned.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
