Testing my new Tamron 50-400 Lens
Testing my new Tamron 50-400 Lens
No update of my wife everything is pretty much the same, she still has a lot of pain in her shoulder, and is pretty much resting on her bed or on her recliner most of the day and cant do much herself so I am busy taking care of her.
But I did find the energy and time to pop outside and try out the new Lens I recently bought the Tamron 40-500mm Lens, which I received on the first day is]t was available a couple of weeks ago but only got to try it out today.
And I will preface this post by saying these shots do now really show what the lens can do, I literally took 5 minutes grabbed the camera popped out the front door and around our yard just to give it a try took a few shots but wasn't really taking my time thinking about the settings as I usually would.
I will say after 3 weeks not taking any photo it did feel good to have the camera in my hand.
Also minimal editing on these and rather than going upstairs onto my desktop PC where I normally do my photo editing, and just pulled these onto my tablet and did a quick rough and ready edit so I could share these.
First couple of shots are to show the range of the lens, this first shot at 50mm

**Sony A7iv testing tamron 40-500 Lens **
and zoomed into this car at 400MM, will be handy to have this capability with me on many of my walks when I get back into getting out and about taking photos regularly when Lulu i fully recovered, but to be honest I do not think that's going to be anytime soon

**Sony A7iv testing tamron 40-500 Lens **
one feature I wanted to try was the semi macro capabilities it has, at 50mm its a 1 to 2 Macro so not a full macro but still handy to have with me, I often on walks see something and wish I had brought my 90mm Macro lens with me, I suspect this lens will be always in my camera bag so will have it handy for semi macro shots when needed
this shot was at 174mm

**Sony A7iv testing tamron 40-500 Lens **
and this next one at 57mm

And this last shot at 50MM

For a super quick test in not ideal light and the fact that as I am tired I didn't really put to much effort into this quick test, I am very happy with this lens and when I am able to get out taking photos again sometime in the future I will give it real test and may do a better review and my thought son this lens
And that’s all folks

.Wow, that is quite the range it has to be able to zoom in that much and do sort of macro shots! Very nice! Sorry to hear that the mrs. is still not feeling 100%. I am sure it will take time to fully recover. Or even partially recover.
It is an impressive lens I will have fun with it
Yes sadly I now think it's going to take months not weeks for her to recover
That's an awesome looking lens man! I actually looked at a Tamron lens last year to grab one but we didn't end up doing it. How much was it, if you don't mind me asking? I want a wide-ranging lens like that, we love the 50mm we have but it's difficult to take some pictures with it being such a finite range.
Hope everything gets better for you! I will pop over to your other posts to see what happened!
Edit -
Ah tough stuff man! That sucks! I wish you and your wife well! One of the very important things to keep in mind for healing that shoulder is bolster her body with as many nutritious things as you can! Reduce or eliminate sweets and alcohol and try to do some great superfood smoothies, vitamin D, magnesium, calcium and others. Trying to basically give her body the essentials it needs and nothing else, in order to build that shoulder back as best it can be!
Thanks for the good advise she like me doesn't drink alcohol and being diabetic she is careful with her sugars
I am very happy with the three Tamron lens I have they will be my main walk around lenses
This one cost around 1300 I think
Very good lens brother, what cool photos you took, congratulations, I'm thinking of getting a Nikon equivalent zoom soon
Thanks from this quick test I am pretty happy with it
A good lens, resulting in quality images. Good job friend
A Tamron lens on a Sony camera is just bliss!
I can be sure you'll have a good time producing great images with the setup.
Ohh yes indeed this is my third Tamron lens and those three will be my make n walk around lenses
That is an awesome shot with the leaf! I can only imagine how amazing it will be when you've had time to play with it more :)
I'm sorry your wife is still in so much pain, shoulder injuries are awful. I'm fortunate that though I opted out of surgery, mine is much better now as long as I remember to stretch it out. But I will not forget that early pain, torture comes to mind. Sending her healing vibes!
Nice range, JJ! @tattoodjay I think you did really well with it on a quick run! I know how excited you were to get this lens!
What a great piece to look forward to.
The long-range and immediately down to the almost full zoom? Sweet!! I'm impressed~ Hugs to Lulu!!
Thanks may be a while before I get to use it in walks but has so much potential
Pretty damn good results, no tripod needed, which is always a bonus.
Yeah it's not light hut manageable as a walk around lens
At some stage I will buy the triple d mount for it
👍

Great to see you have taken a short break to test the new lens.

Thanks so much
💪💪 Great photos
Thank you
Great you got out, even if it was a brief moment. Just holding the camera again. Good for you @tattoodjay 😊
Looking good for a quick test to see the reach of the new lens and what it could do macro wise.
I got a new camera included lens while we were on holidays in Massachusetts 😉 just back home now. So had to figure out a lot, out and about.
It is such an upgrade from my old Canon DSLR that was almost 12 years old. It will take a while to figure it all out. This new canon is also mirrorless.
Haven’t looked at the photos yet. Will do so in the next days when I upload them.
I love the sharp edges on your photographs and the zoom is pretty awesome.
Looking forward when you can test it a bit more.
Now take care of your dear wife first. Hope she recovers well 🤞🏻🤞🏻😊 best wishes… for both. Stay strong!
Thanks
Have fun with your new camera
You are welcome, thinking of you both 🤞🏻😊
Thank you so much… I sure will. 😎
Have a wonderful Monday!
Just got to know about your wife's condition, praying for a speedy recovery for her, and great strength for you as you take care of your wife day and night.
It's good that you manage to get a breather (go outside) and do what you like to do (taking pictures), though it's just a short one. I believe it did well for your soul.
I don't have much knowledge of lenses, but those shots are really beautiful and nicely captured, especially the dried leaf photo. Love how the dandelion seed rested on the dried leaf with the sunlight accompaniment. It looks like a big hand holding it all together.
Just know it this too will pass, your wife will get better soon and you'll be able to get back to your usual activities. :)
Thanks really appreciate your support
Nice shots, looks like that lens is pretty versatile. You caught some great detail on the closeups to.
Thanks I think I will often have this either on camera or in my bag when I get out walking on photo shoots
Yeah that 400 can really reach out and bring it in. I am real interested in this. Seems like it does a great job and less than half as much as the Canon 100-400.
And I lot cheaper than a Sony equivalent also and from what I have seen it performs very well
Sorry to hear about your wife's current condition @tattoodjay. I'll include her in my prayers for faster recovery and healing. All will be well one day. 🙏☺️
I haven't tried using Tamron lens. I was always afraid to buy this brand. But looking at your photos, they look decent. Do you use other brands with the same focal length? Which one is your favorite?
Thanks kindly
Tamron has really come a long way they used to be cheap and not as good as camera maker lenses but they have come a long way
In fact with this one my three lenses I will walk with regularly are all Tamron lenses
Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍

Good to hear from you, brother. Lens looks like it has some awesome capabilities. Should be fun when you get to put it through its paces 🙂
Thanks yes I think I will put this lens to a lot of use
Sorry to hear that your wife is still in pain. I hope she's having a good rest and recover quickly. I'm sure this new lens is a great addition to any your toolkit. The pictures taken with this new lens are so clear and bright, they almost look like they've been photoshopped. Great shots.
Thanks so kind of you

Lens seems to be working out pretty nicely! Sorry that Lulu isn't feeling much better, though. Hopefully soon.
