Sunrise on the Hurricane barrier wall

Sunrise on the Hurricane barrier wall

Good morning, I hope life is treating you well and that you have a good day

I have often shared sunrise shots taken on the Harbor walk way here which is on top of a hurricane barrier wall, but mostly from the other end of it.

Today I will share some shots at the other end when I was there quite early before the sunrise and walked the walkway before the sun was rising

This first shot not only shows the rising sun, but how the top of the Barrier wall looks in the parts where they have not built a walking path

I waited till there was some or enough light before walking out on this part of the barrier wall when I could clearly see the cracks and walk safely up there

the same morning another angle on top of the wall

Construction of the New Bedford Hurricane Protection Barrier began in October 1962 and was completed in January 1966, costing $18.6 million
The walls protects about 1,400 acres in New Bedford, Fairhaven, and Acushnet from tidal flooding associated with hurricanes and coastal storms. This acreage is thickly settled with industrial and commercial properties, particularly along the waterfront and the shores of the Acushnet River. The area represents about 80 percent of land flooded in the September 1938 and August 1954 hurricanes, the latter storm causing $8.3 million in flood damages.

And looking the other way off the wall at Palmers Island, and you can see the road I walk out on to get to Palemrs island
not so much a road but an access way to the end of the wall where they have a control centre for the gate

This is the control Centre I mentioned earlier I often see people heading out to work there on my early morning walks

That control center seems like it would be a great place to work. I'd love to have a view like that out my window every day! Instead today I am looking at 4 to 7 inches of snow coming down! Thankfully it shouldn't stick around too long.

The times they are a changing... in 1966 they built walls to deal with hurricanes and flooding. Today we buy an EV 🤔 🤣🤣🤣
I like building big things but I suppose my next car will at least be a hybrid

What a gorgeous sunrise! What is that on Palmer Island? Old ruined house?

Just goes to show you that early bird gets the worm. Or sunrise in this case!

Looking forward to the cars tomorrow!

As usual, excellent use of light.
The third photo is my favorite, I love the composition with the lines leading the spectator's eyes and the contrast between yellow and blue.
Congrats, once again.
