Sublime and Beautiful Sunday Osprey catching a fish

Sublime and Beautiful Sunday

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

For this weeks post to these challenges I am back to birds again, and one particular bird in fact, after having some luck with catching image sof an Osprey catching a fish which I included in last Sundays post, I havent finished with getting shots of birds in general and Osprey in particular, my next goal was to try and catch an Osprey as it dived down, caught a fish and then took off to flight from the water, and this post is a series of shots where I almost did this

I did not catch the dive, but the sequence starts as the osprey is coming out of the water

Now there is a funny story to these photos, one day I went back to Silvershell beach in Marion early to catch the sunrise, as as I was taking photos of the sunrise, I saw a whole bunch of Osprey, probably between 10 and 15 of them, and they were having great success catching fish and I saw a few fly overhead with fish in their talons, but i had a wide angle lens on for the sunrise shots, after the sunrise I switched to my big lens, but it seemed the Osprey had done enough fishing for the day and I only saw them way off in the distance at that time.

So a couple of days later, or possibly even the next day I headed back there, with a plan to catch some early blue hour images then switch to my big lenses and try to get some shots of the Osprey diving for fish, so well before the sun rose I switched to my big lens, but all the Osprey I could see that morning were well off in the distance, and only a couple of them, which was a little frustrating, but then this one flew by towards me and then dived for the fish which lead to this sequence of images

here it is coming out of the water

This next one is the same image but I cropped in closer so you may see the drops of water coming off the fish ( you may need to click on the click to view larger to see it better)

A couple of flaps of its wings and they looked dry

Stunning sequence of events with bird lifting off the water with catch of the day, strength in their wings totally amazing when soaked.

Great shot with droplets of water in gentle sunlight of early morning JJ!

A massive well done, so elusive here in the U.K. I’d be very lucky to get photos like that. That said I have seen one on our south coast.

Of course! We’ve a lot of Red Kites. They’re amazing and can watch them from our garden at times. It’s a pleasure to watch them as they duck and dive, the mature birds training their young to hunt. Much like the Osprey, I’ve no idea how to get decent photos of them. I’m willing to try though!

Wow… such a great captures @tattoodjay 😎 yay you got one getting out of the water.
Such a funny story, when you are not prepared they are there and so many… and when going back, all set. Nope hahaha. Isn’t that always the case.
Hope you get the dive in too one day 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Love the photograph series. And it does look like that, that it gets rather quickly dry after the few flaps with the wings. Remarkable to see. Thanks so much for sharing. Love all of them.
Happy Sunday 👋🏻☀️

Definitely wonderful shots, you finally caught one of the best natural fishers catching his/her food. Nature is totally amazing and all we have to do is sit back and watch. Thanks for sharing and do enjoy the new week ahead :}

A sort of reminder of our times of inflation. It's meal has become a smaller portion.
Well, at least it eats for free.

If you could take a picture of that group with a zoom lens, it would be great. But despite this, these last photos are also great. Well done

Absolutely stunning. Love the one where it looks like it is walking on water, all bedraggled and messy. Such great photos and a stunning bird.
