I saw this one in A wooded area in Buttonwood Park, it was making some interesting sounds, well there was quiet a few of them
Some interesting info I read about cat Birds
Gray Catbirds get their common name from their distinctive mewing call, which can sound like a cat’s meow to some ears, Not that I can say I head cat sounds when I saw them
Gray Catbirds can produce two sounds at the same time thanks to their ability to use each side of their syrinx, or vocal organ, independently. they can use one side or the other or both.
When they sing they can keep going for around 10 Minutes and mimic other birds and even mechanical sounds
The male Gray Catbird uses his loud song to proclaim his territory. He uses a softer version of the song when near the nest or when a bird intrudes on his territory. The female may sing the quiet song back to the male.
Next up we have a Great Egret

Such a beautiful bird to watch flying, Great Egrets fly slowly but powerfully: with just two wingbeats per second their cruising speed is around 25 miles an hour
I think this is also an Egret

Great bird shots. I think the last photo is of a heron. I love seeing herons. They are probably my favorite bird to witness in nature.
Thanks and thanks also on the info on the heron :)
No problem. I'm not sure if they are the same family as an egret or not - I don't really know much about egrets. I would have thought the white egrets were cranes lol

I'm sure there is no gray catbirds here but I keep looking down for what was meowing recently and couldn't find the source. Maybe I have to remember looking up too. 😎

Nice bird captures on this #beautifulsunday 🙂 I really like watching Egrets fly also. I like the way they tuck their head into their body.
Such a beautiful captures @tattoodjay 😎 love the photos of the white egret the most.
Also the flight ones are great.
Thanks for sharing!
Have a wonderful Sunday further. 👋🏻☀️😊
The last one is a Great Blue Heron. Such a wonderous bird. They are so very cool when they are flying!
You were right, that was an egret.
I do like the oystercatcher, and always thought they had a rather unique structure.
You are using that lens so very well and I love, love, love all the birds in flight (and otherwise!) The grey catbird is one of those birds I love listening to their song, so really beautiful, sometimes even trilling. It is such a melodious sound! I love opening my windows and letting that sound drift through my house!
It is easy to see that they are related to the mockingbird, another great singer!
Happy #sublimesunday! A #beautifulsunday overall!

Beautiful birds, @tattoodjay. I learned a lot about catbirds! Now I need to investigate the origins of the expression, “in the catbird seat.”
Thanks
IO had not heard that phrase so I was curious and foudn this
"The catbird seat" is an idiomatic phrase used to describe an enviable position, often in terms of having the upper hand or greater advantage in any type of dealing among parties. It derives from the secluded perch on which the gray catbird makes mocking calls.
Source
According to Douglas Harper's Online Etymological Dictionary, the phrase refers to the gray catbird and was used in the 19th century in the American South.[1]
According to the Oxford English Dictionary,[2] the first documented use occurred in a 1942 humorous short story by James Thurber titled "The Catbird Seat",[3] which features a character, Mrs. Barrows, who likes to use the phrase. Another character, Joey Hart, explains that Mrs. Barrows must have picked up the expression from the baseball broadcaster Red Barber, and that "sitting in the catbird seat" meant "'sitting pretty', like a batter with three balls and no strikes on him."
The phrase "in the catbird seat" was among the numerous folksy expressions used by radio sports broadcaster Red Barber. According to Barber's daughter, after her father read Thurber's story, he began using the phrase "in the catbird seat". This seems to reverse events, however, as the passage of story quoted above clearly references Barber.
According to "Colonel" Bob Edwards's book Fridays with Red, Barber claimed that Thurber got this and many other expressions from him, and that Barber had first heard the term used by Frank Koch during a poker game in Cincinnati, during the Great Depression.[4] Barber also put forth this version of events in his 1968 autobiography, Rhubarb in the Catbird Seat.[5]
