Monday Mono the Dennis Sullivan

Monday Mono the Dennis Sullivan

good Morning all, I hope you had a good weekend and lif eis treating you well

this post follows on from a recent post where I shared a few shots of the Ship Dennis Sullivan

This post I am sharing a few mono shots of it but first let me tall you about it
the S/V Denis Sullivan and is a replica three-masted, wooden, gaff rigged schooner originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was a flagship of both the state of Wisconsin and of the United Nations Environment Programme until she was sold to the World Ocean School and moved to Boston, Massachusetts in late 2022

As I have said before I am not a sailor at heart more of a landlubber and haven't been out on a boat for years but I do love seeing the ships in the harbor, private pleasure craft, commercial boats, but my favorite to see are old sailing ships like these

I often focus on the ropes which I think may be called the rigging on the ship

and of course on the lasts with all the rope sup and down to hoist the sails when needed

Looking up the masts, imagining what it must be like to climb up the mast when the ship is out to sea, depending on the conditions it must be such an amazing and unique experience

DID I say I love looking at the ropes and pullies heres more of them

Never bene out on a tall sial ship so dont know anything about what all the ropes heading up the mast do, but they sure do catch my eye

Looking at these style of ships always leads my imagination to run wild thinking what it must have bene like back in the day when these were the norm for longer trips and the conditions the crew must have faced back then

OF course only seeing it tied up in port i couldn't get a shot of the whole ship including the hull

And that’s all folks

I love that fourth photo of the three similar pullies in a grouping. I'm with you in my lack of sea going knowledge but thats a good photo, whatever they are 😁

Ropes, knots, pulley systems the old mast ships do look dramatic with sails up or down.

Must be lost feeling of exploring that grips our imagination of wild seas, a sailor hanging off top mast to see if land is to be found anywhere.

I love it! I love the harbour and boats, my grandfather used to race boats and I think I inherited his love for boats.

Thank you for these beautiful pictures!❤️

I do love tall ships! It was fun to tour the HMS Surprise in San Diego, and I've been on the USS Constitution in Boston; it never gets old!
