I love when a city Embraces art
I love when a city Embraces art
When I moved here to New Bedford, I did not think I would be seeing much art around the city as I had in NYC, but I have been pleasantly surprised to find a few groups that support art being on display around the city, one being this display I just found sponsored by DATMA
it was a foggy morning and I had decided to head to the port for a stroll and as I was heading there I saw this display on the side of the road by the port

So I walked there first to check them out and will show you them all in this post ( well sort of but I will get to that later)
But first let me tell you about DATMA
DATMA is committed to bringing world-renowned art, design, and technology exhibitions, programs, and initiatives to the sidewalks and streets of SouthCoast, Massachusetts.
Identified as one of the Commonwealth’s most creative economies by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, DATMA has a headquarters in New Bedford where it has worked with talented artists and organizations on collaborative projects that leave you inspired and energized.
The first one I will share is this piece Community Tides by Silvia Lopez Chavez, which is highlighted here but the art piece is on Popes Island and I will share that in post three of this series

What a wonderful surprise to find on your way to the port.
I love outdoor art. I'm sure there is more of it around her than I have seen now since I haven't been out and about as much. It seems the small towns here have embraced their local art communities here in the south too and it's fun to see what they sometimes bring in from the outside too.
Yeah was a cool change of plans, and yes more places should embrace art for sure
There has been a resurgence of art support in our small community too. I think the lockdown has the effect of amplifying the ability to produce art and our appreciation of it when not much was going on. We have 2 new galleries on our block and are setting up our https://towncriermarketing.ca office like a gallery to sell local art commission free.
I love the displays they have there and the varying styles and pieces to enjoy while on a walk.
Yeah I think you could well be right, maybe peoples perspective changed after the lockdown
Amazing!!!! Feels magical!!!! ❤😊Great work. Amazing shot.
Thanks
I hope life is treating you well
Fun display! I agree that the Patrick Moore peice stands out. Looking forward to more posts 🙂
