Art in NYC
Art in NYC
Good Morning everyone, digging back in to my archives for this post, after talking to a friend yesterday about my time in NYC and all the art there I was inspired to do this post.
Now as I have said probably far to many times I am a country boy at heart, and really didn't like the hustle and bustle of NYC, during the day, but I did enjoy early morning walks when not too many people are out and about, of course not to many is a relative term as they say NYC never sleeps and there are always some people out and about at any time of the day or night.
But one thing I did love about exploring the streets of the city was coming across the art all around the city and there is a lot of it and that's what I will share today some I came across, had photos of and I had not shared before.
MUch of the art is very colorful, this first one I share being a bit different a mono mural, with most of the rest being in color it makes this one stand out for me

now there is an artist who goes by the name of Kobra, whose work I loved and I made it a point to try and go visit all of his pieces around NYC, and one of my favorites is this piece of Mother Teresa and Ghandi

a Little About Kobra
Carlos Eduardo Fernandes Léo (born January 1, 1976 in São Paulo, Brazil), known as Eduardo Kobra, nicknamed Kobra, is a street artist who officially began his career in 1987 at 11 years old, in his hometown of São Paulo. Since then he has painted over 3,000 murals on five different continents.

Those could be the most epic I've ever seen. I've always been in awe that they can do this on such a giant canvas. In my experience I've never seen anyone actually working on them and I live right in the centre of the city.
Ohh they are amazing there for sure I was lucky enough to see a couple of pieces being done it was cool seeing the mural grow day by day
Never been there but it's so beautiful! Nice shots too
Thanks kindly your support is appreciated
Have a great day
The Mother Teresa and Ghandi colors are so intense, did you edit the photo? I dont know if its the contrast between each change of color that make it look so bright, besides the fact that its huge, wich stuff like that get done here, there are a few murals but never that big
I did perhaps tweak up the colors but it is a very colorful mural and I love his work
Wow, those are so realistic. I love the NOMAD one. That is so amazing. I love the colors and the many pieces of it that come together into the whole picture. Thanks for sharing these!
Arent they just so amazing that for sure is oneof the things I miss seeing from NYC
The Advert worked. I'm no sneakerhead but I had to google joyride 🙂 I really like the Mother Teresa and Ghandi work by Kobra. So transformational to see them in bright colors. In my mind, they are almost monochromatic - traditionally seen in white robes.
LOL funnily enough I looked up Joyrides when I was preparing this post
Kobras work really stands out I loved seeing all his murals inthe city
I love when you show off the street art in one of my favorite cities for it! Admittedly, I haven't worked in NYC in years, but, in my head, I still love it.
Even though the mono mural is not popping with color, it is a powerful piece (to me) in its subdued colors. It would not have spoken quite so loudly if it was in color. The color would have overpowered the piece. In my opinion, which we all know, everyone has one of those. LOL
However, Kobra is amazing, isn't he? The mural down on 10th street - of Ghandi and Mother Theresa is one of my favorites, along with the giant mural of the kneeling fireman which I think is down on 3rd Avenue... You have to be wowed by murals like that. He paints with his soul.
The trademark geometrical colors are all his.
Thank you so much, JJ! A great post!
OHh yeah I think the art in NYC is perhaps what I miss the most and of course Central Park and my fav building the Chrysler
I agree with you on the first image the subtle colors really make it stand out
The firefighter Mural was the first one of Kobras I saw and then I had to go and see the rest of his pieces
Wow, you captured some really insane street photos, I've looked at them many times, they are well executed and the photos are also professional.
Thanks kindly your support is appreciated
Have a great day
You're welcome.
I always follow your posts with interest.
👍🙂👍
Some classy stuff there @tattoodjay , Mother Teresa and Gandhi are awesome but Vox is my fav.
Thanks I think I overdid the saturation on the Ghandi/mother Theresa photo but for me Vox is awesome as well
No, looks good to me, you see some uploads on here and well, the shots make my eyes bleed!!!!!
LOL OK it wasnt to bad then I wouldnt want to make people seyes bleed, but yes I have seen and know what you mena
👍
what editing software do you use as a matter of interest?
I am really loving Skylum's Luminair Neo. Easier interface than adobe and less expensive too.
I have bene using Lightroom and photoshop for a few years now
Neo is a ore affordable option and has some cool features I did tr it out, but for me I didnt likeit so much, perhaps because I am so used to using lightroom and how to get the effects i want
I like that second picture! Brings the art in perspective!
Thanks appreciate your feedback always good to know
