a turn for the terns
a turn for the terns
One day recently I was picking up Zoey our Granddaughter from school, when I do that I head to the school early to get a good parking spot and as it was a nice day and I had about an hour to spare I had my camera bag with me and heading down by the water.
ON this day I noticed there were plenty of terns flying around and so I decided to see if I could catch some shots of them
Apparently these are common terns, why not just plain terns for this variety I think they look far from common and are beautiful

Now getting shots of them is indeed a challenge as they move so fast flying back and forth here and there, so I took a ton of shots of them hoping to catch some that were ok to share, and got quite a few some of which I will share in this post
Now this next photo is one I would not normally share, but I decided to share it anyway to highlight how fast they move and how much of a challenge it was to get some of them, the tern out of focus and almost flying out of shot, I also got many where it has flown out of shot and hence just a shot of a portion of the sky LOL

now to get back to some of the shots I was somewhat happy with such as this one of it flying low over the water

and perhaps my favorite shot of this pair of tens one with a small fish in its beek

I know this is a shot some may not like but I find it kind of cool the tern about to dive to catch a fish and a fishing boat in the background

this is perhaps the best time to get a crisp shot they pause for a brief second in this position just before they dive into the water

and another one about to dive

I did try to catch oen just as it entered the water, with no luck but got this shot of one just as it came out of the water

The terns look so majestic. You've got really clear and beautiful shots of them. It's amazing how fast those birds move. The one just leaping out of tye water is especially nice. A turn for the terns indeed.✨
Thanks was so happy to get these shots of them
Wow, that is really cool. I do love the shot with the two of them. I think the one with the blurred boat in the background is really nice too. Do Terns make the awful racket like seagulls do?
Thanks
And no they do tweet away but nowhere as bad as seagulls
Ah, that is good!
I love taking shots of birds dear friend @tattoodjay but as you say, they move very fast and you have to take many shots to choose the best ones
Beautiful shots, as always I admire the color of your photographs
Have a splendid day

Great tern shots. I too like the one with the fish and also the one with the splash were it hit the water. We try to take lots of animal and bird photos but mostly struggle with zooming close enough. Haven't spent much time lately on capturing action. Great captures.
thanks so much, it is a challenge catching birds in flight takes a lot of tries and patience, the patience I struggle with lOL
You have done a great shoot, all the pictures look very sharp and clear

Damn some awesome shots man, I don’t know what one I like more the ship in the background or the one with the pair and a fish. Great photos for sure!

Hello, I love the photos although the one with the tern in the foreground flying and the trawler blurred in the background is my favourite. They are all really nice though.
