A cross Mono Monday

I have started changing my time for my morning walk on some days instead of heading out to catch the sunrise, I head out a little later and have bene visiting some spots I haven't been to that a re best visited when there is more light.

One of the spots I visited was St Marys Cemetery in Dartmouth, and I will share on Wednesday showing more of the layout of the cemetery, but today being a Monday I am going with some Mono Images.

The last couple of Mondays i have gone with Color Splash/Selective color edits, for todays post I am back to pure Mono, which I find works well for some things including cemeteries, and in this case details of some crosses on headstones in the cemetery.

This Cemetery is a Catholic Cemetery and has a lot of Graves with Irish names, but this first cross is for a grave with the surname Harding, which I think is more of Scottish origin, the the Celtic style cross is what caught my eye.

Next up a more simple cross

Now I enjoy walking around cemeteries, reading the headstones and wondering about the history of the people laid to rest their, I find it a relaxing and calming experience.

I know some find cemeteries creepy but not me:)

Another simple cross again with the letters IHS, which as I understand it is an abbreviation which was common for the name Jesus from the Greek Alphabet

I was quite taken by this last cross, simple in design yet it stood out to me, I wonder if the shape of the cross ties in somehow to the person buried there working on a boat or ship of some sort it just has a nautical feel to me

Beautiful mono shots. The crosses do make great mono subjects. Mono make the crosses look ancient. Timeless.

Aw man, these are really nice. I do love cemeteries, and those headstones and crosses look really great in sepia and bw. Nice!

You capture some beautiful crosses, love the details of them. Interesting to see. If I am out and about somewhere and see a very old cemetery I tend to wander over it. Somethings the mausoleums are just beautiful.

I to enjoy visiting cemeteries especially older ones I have visited a couple I had not been to in the last week, I find it relaxign walking around them which I know some find strange,
and yes some of the Mausoleums can be so interesting

The weather has been so nice have been out photo walking most mornings, so much so I am behind in editing and preparing posts I need to make some time for that

5 years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Mono works well in your cemetery walk. Lot of crosses in that cemetery, reminds me I want to get a crucifix to wear.

The cemetery is the only place where you find all class of people calmly seated with no worries. Beautiful post and great pictures.
