Farewell to fall

Fall has been bright this year, but short. It looks like this fall walk is ending the season. Winter is early this year, and right now as I write these lines, I'm admiring the freshly fallen snow outside my window. Next time I'll be photographing winter snowy landscapes. Unless, of course, there's a sudden big thaw - that happens sometimes, too. But so much snow has already fallen that we can't hope for real fall landscapes.

I took these photos during a walk around Kanonersky Island. Some time ago I told you about this island and how it differs from the neighboring ones. The island is a nesting place for migratory birds. Therefore, although the island is located within the city limits, it looks like a completely unsettled area. This is done on purpose, a piece of almost untouched nature is left for feathered guests.

The previous time I walked along the road that runs along the shore. This time I turned inland and walked along the road between the low trees and bushes. Such a landscape could be considered boring, if it were not for the delightful colors of autumn. The multicolored foliage created a sense of celebration. The best time of fall looks just like that - like a short holiday that you don't want to part with.

It rained during the night and some parts of the road turned into perfect mirrors, they reflected the clear blue sky and the yellow-green of the foliage. If it were possible to cut out these pieces of reflections and frame them, such paintings would decorate any interior. Nature is the best artist.

During my walk I was admiring exclusively natural objects, and I hoped not to see evidence of human presence in this quiet place. But unexpectedly, I came across an artifact whose origin can only be guessed at. A concrete slab was emblazoned with the wish "Learn your lessons." Studying is a useful thing to do, but not on this day! I'd rather walk some more!

At the beginning of the route, I met a small group of teenagers on rented scooters who stopped in confusion in front of a section with lots of puddles. Scooters are not the best transportation for such paths! Bicycles would have been more appropriate - provided you bike part of the way and carry the bike in your hands the other part of the way.

I was able to spend my time taking a break from the crowded city. Despite the great weather, there were few people willing to walk the roads and paths of the island, and I was able to enjoy the peace and quiet of the place to the fullest. The beautiful fall colors are just what you need before the long winter begins.
