CCC's Street Art Contest #166. Graffiti as a free flight of fancy

Greetings, friends! This walk in search of graffiti is a logical and physical continuation of the walk I published a few days ago. That time I chose for publication a mural on a blank wall of a house, made by professional artists. This time I am going to walk through courtyards and nooks to photograph works made by ordinary street artists. As a rule, the authors of these works are teenagers who use the walls as a canvas to reflect their worldview.

Most often graffiti appears on the walls of empty buildings, garages and transformer boxes. One of these buildings occupies a key spot on the corner of several streets, and graffiti artists have done a lot of work on its appearance. The area around the building is densely packed with cars whose owners are hoping to save some money on paid parking, so it was not easy to choose good angles for photography.

Most of the time, I don't even have a rough idea of what the artist intended to communicate with his work. I have to operate with the simplest concepts of like/dislike when I talk about such graffiti. Established artists talk about their creations on blogs and social media, but novice artists just paint and write tags. It would seem that tags are text, and there should be no difficulty in understanding. But it's such a complex graphic that I often can't even pick out the individual letters of the tag.

I've gone from an empty house to garages, and it's that rare occasion when I can not only read the text, but even know what it means. Written in big letters is the word "Why," which is the name of a group of street art artists.

Apart from complex drawings and tags, during this walk I came across several small sketches and inscriptions made with ordinary felt-tip pens or gel pens. The following two works form a whole, but it is impossible to photograph them together, the drawing is too small. The drainpipe with the text "true reality" and an arrow is slightly to the right of the drawing.

Cool selection of StreetArt. Abandonned buildings are perfect canvases for artists. I like the ghost, perfect for Halloween. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Have a lovely weekend
