Beautiful Sunday in the park "Quiet Rest"

The park with the lyrical name "Quiet Rest" is located on one of the islands in the delta of the Neva River. Officially the whole territory of the island is considered a park zone, but in reality the park occupies only the central part.

The rest of the island is occupied by low-rise residential buildings - old mansions and summer houses. These buildings are a legacy of the period when the island was considered a suburb and, by all accounts, was perfect for summer holidays. Now it is almost the centre of the city, the real outskirts are much further away.

Getting to the park is easy, you can take the city bus or walk from the metro station, which is less than a kilometre away. It's a great place to go when you don't have a lot of free time, or when the weather is unstable and can turn bad quickly. In that case, this small park surrounded by old mansions will give you the opportunity to be outdoors for exactly the amount of time you have at your disposal.

It was one of the last days of golden autumn, the ground was covered with a layer of fallen leaves and turned into a bright yellow-red carpet. I met park workers several times during my walk. They were collecting the fallen leaves into huge piles and sweeping the paths, but their efforts were in vain. Unfortunately, all this beauty only lasts for a few days: the sunny weather is replaced by rain and frost.

At the end of the walk I came to one of the old mansions. This house belonged to the greatest scientist and doctor Vladimir Mikhailovich Bekhterev. Bekhterev was engaged in the study of the work of the brain and spinal cord, he studied and described a number of diseases, developed methods of their treatment. This house was built for the scientist in 1914, and Bekhterev himself took part in designing the house. The house was originally built of wood, but in the process of reconstruction the wooden structures were replaced with stone ones.
