Tool To Add Links To LeoGlossary

We are expanding LeoGlossary on a daily basis. Most who follow it realize we are going in a few different directions. That said, one of the keys is linking pages together and using the terms in all our posts.

One thing to keep in mind that LeoGlossary is not separate from LEO. There is no separate URL. It is all InLeo, a point that cannot be stressed enough.

LeoGlossary is a database that allows one to enhance his or her articles with links to more information that could aid the reader in understanding. At the same time, this is what also sends the Google crawler bouncing around. Internal links, which is what connecting InLeo pages is, removes orphan pages and helps to build our "iceberg". To goal is to have nothing floating out on its own.

Recently, LeoGlossary was added to the search on InLeo. This is a fabulous step forward. Another benefit is that people can actually find the pages from the search, helping to drive traffic.

That said, we are still dealing with an individual word placement. Here is where a tool can help out.

LeoLinker

The above is a simple tool that can help anyone add links to an article instantly.

All that is required is to take the text from the article, copy and paste it into the left hand box, and it will provide the links.

Next we simply scroll down, and press the "Copy to clipboard". Then we paste that into the InLeo writer.

As we can see, this adds many links to the article, creating a lot more internal links while also providing more relevance to the article itself.

There is one word of caution.

Manual review is required!!!

The linker doesn't really understand context and some works, such as "network" have multiple meanings (i.e. pages in LeoGlossary). Whether the proper one is chosen is a roll of the dice. Hence, it is best to review the links to ensure they have captured the intended meaning.

We also have links to movies which can also caused problems periodically. For example, there was a Richard Pryor film called "Moving". This often can get placed when one is talking about the price moving up. As you can see, the context doesn't fit.

Another issue is that the linker can change some words from or to capitalization. Again, it doesn't understand context so it can cause some grammatical issues if not fixed.

Outside of that, a lot of the work is done by the linker.

Glossary Growing

Each day the glossary is filling up.

More pages are added, which the linker picks up after a day or so. This means, depending upon the topic, we are seeing more interconnectivity for all this data. That is extremely important in my opinion.

At the same time, some of the older content is being amended and refreshed. This helps to bring it back to life along with helping to backlink an older page to a newer one. Age does matter when it comes to Google.

The thing about building a database is that each week it grows. We know that every 7 days, it is larger than when we started.
