Tesla: A Legion of Optimus in 2025
The Tesla bot, called Optimus, has made some noise since it was announced. Actually, since that time, the entire humanoid robotic industry received a great deal of attention. This is something that is actually warranted since the advancements are impressive.
It appears we are getting closer to the time when these will be a reality.
Of course, we have to cut through the fluff. There is a lot of noise out there regarding the claims some companies are making. They are promoting the idea that we will have humanoids in our homes very soon.
One company that is not saying much is Tesla. We see little hype about the product meaning they are likely making a lot of progress. Remember, many of the companies have to tout something as viable since they are raising money. Boston Dynamics did this for years.
Tesla: A Legion of Optimus in 2025
Elon Musk had a conference with Tesla employees the other night. During his presentation, he gave an update on Optimus.
He stated they are going into production in the hands, after doing so with the actuators. The goal is to have supplies for 10K-12K Optimus bots by the end of the year. This will, hopefully translate into 5K Optimus (or is it Optimi) by the end of the year.
This would be an entire legion of robots.
Musk stated the reason for the supply chain levels and production is due to the new manufacturing process. Since this was not done at scale, challenges are expected. This is why a 5K turnout would be a major success.
If that is achieved, the goal will be to 10x the production in 2026. Simple math puts this total at 50K.
It is something that can be accomplished simply by opening up a line (or two) in Austin. For now, the bots are being built in the Fremont factory. Austin is Tesla's major US manufacturing hub, with room for expanded lines. We can also presume these will start in Shanghai.
Internal Use and Training
Having 5,000 robots moving around will be a major milestone. This is going to be a data feeder like we never saw before. These are outfitted with a number of cameras (I counted at least 6 in some videos) and, I am sure, sensors throughout. Every move is captured as data and used for training.
What gets overlooked is the skills explosion that can take place. With 5K robots, if each learns a new skills, that is 35K skills in a week. By simply updating the software, each robot will have all the skills instantly.
Musk stated that he thinks this will be Tesla's biggest product, by 10x. I agree with this. As stated in my videos, the TAM on this market is virtually unlimited. When we consider the transition to the Age of Abundance, we can see how billions of robots can be utilized. Naturally, after the situation with the astronauts on the ISS, we can see how these are ideally suited for space work.
Before we get to that point, we have to get the production line going. There will likely be iterations throughout the year as the company uses the feedback from its production. Perhaps they start to put them in the hands of other companies in 2026.
The robots are certainly coming.

I wonder the response of those who see the robotic industry as a threat to the labor sector.
They will complain but do little to prepare for it....or they will deny it.
Tesla is looking like Skynet from the Terminator movies.
I would disagree with that outlook.
That's impressive, hopefully these bots are going to help humanity not harm them.
Mr Task, we’re definitely a few years away from having a robot coworker stealing my lunch from the fridge hahaha I am so happy to see such progress and I'm surprised it's Tesla and not a Chinese company. Hope they at least know how to make good coffee
hahahaha thanks for reassuring my Launch Mr Task and yes, I'll give the Chinese their props these guys can go large scale on just about anything and infact they could go cheaper while doing it... How they pull that off I have no idea hahaha
Many want to discount the Chinese due to some technological limitations. While that might be the case, they are still strong there and they excel at building things.
I couldn't agree more Mr Task
The way Tesla is really setting high standard in the industry is something to be studied
