Subscriptions: Leofinance's Next Evolution

What a day it has been.

Because of that, I am going to keep looking forward because, well no rest for the weary. Leofinance is bringing game changing technology to Hive. What we are seeing is really amazing.

For this reason, I want to discuss what Khal mentioned during the AMA. However, before getting to that, it is important to cover, briefly, LeoThreads.

Micro-Activity

The new LeoThreads UI is amazing. It is clean, fast, and does have that Twitter feel. We are in alpha so the features are rather limited at the moment. The promise is that, based upon feedback, more will be added each week. The key is to thoroughly test out what is developed and live.

We are also in the debugging period.

Nevertheless, the overall reception of the new front end appears to be very positive. To me, this is going to radically increase one of my main on-chain metrics, transactions.

A number of weeks ago I wrote about the exponential aspect to LeoThreads. Now that we have the updated interface, it is best to revisit it. This is how we will kick off the network effect on Hive.

Before getting to that, we know that we have microblogging on Hive. This is ushering in the era of micro-earning, whereby people are earning small rewards many different times throughout the day.

Now we have another term to coin: micro-activity.

This is a lot of activities related to microblogging. It also feeds into micro-earning.

Here is a screenshot I took earlier.

microactivity.png

These were two successful Threads. Notice the activity the two generated. There are 10 comments and 18 votes related to thse two threads. That is a fair bit of activity tied to two simple threads.

This is the premise of micro-activity. If we get thousands of top level threads going each day, we can see a 4x or 5x in the total impact on Hive. Considering the entire blockchain does around 25K comments a day, this is a dramatic change.

Here we have the first focus for the Leo community.

Subscriptions

This is something that was mentioned on the AMA (along with being discussed over the last few months).

It is an idea that follows Substack.

Here is how the main premise could work.

  • Hive has recurrent paymets. A subscription could be paid with HBD. This is an advantage.
  • The payment is sent to the content creator, with a small portion going to Leofinance.
  • HBD is swapped for $HIVE on internal exchange
  • The $HIVE is flipped to Hive-Engine
  • LEO is bought with swap.hive
  • LEO is burned

Here we can see how this can benefit both Hive and Leofinance.

  • The users get content they find valuable.
  • Content creators get another revenue stream
  • $HIVE gets buy demand on the internal exchange
  • HBD gets a use case
  • LEO is burned helping the Leofinance community

Each of these layers also requires resource credits.

Another key feature is the fact that we are creating a circular economy. The entire Leofinance umbrella is captured, in theory, under the LEO token. Here is where building value for the community, both content creators and consumers, is of benefit. Those with stake keep getting rewarded each step of the way.

How big can this be?

We look to substack as an example.

If subscriptions equal even a portion of that, we could see thousands of them per month.

From the same article, here is another key point:

substack.png

If Leofinance is taking a small portion of each payment and using it to buy LEO, how much is required to sent the price soaring. We know there are only 14 million LEO total on the market and most are staked. That means tens of thousands of dollars in buy pressure is going to make a radical difference.

Now that LeoThreads is released in alpha, we can look to the next level of advancement. Subscriptions could end up being a powerful revenue generator.

The building never stops.

I believe that once this micro-blogging project is fixed, the HIVE blockchain will be complete. I mean that HIVE will be the most complete and efficient social media blockchain in the world. I too would like to participate as a user in the initial tests of this new micro blogging project

the NSFW was the first thought I had when I read about the subscription too 😂🤣

besides NSFW contents, how would subscribers benefit from subscribing though?

It's great to see things taking shape, the only drawback would be why users would pay for the contents it's basically free to access on the blockchain?

perhaps there could be private, encrypted, thread channels to go with those subscriptions. Which would be unlocked after subscribing to the private community from the content creator/community leader.

That would help to draw some communities from discord to hive.

I don't really know if I like the subscription model because I just look at the streaming space. When I see how there are so many options and it seems like it could be oversaturated to an extent fairly fast.

Wow... this is leo alpha then... but a long post... but anyway its a informative post, I will upvote and rehive it in the long format hive... this is a bit new for me and a little unexpected.

But we need a crypto based micro blogging platform, I can't do much crypto related twitter activities because my country is crypto hostile, so I like this...

Only thing it will take a long time to gain traction...still its fun stuff... wow

It would be great if you issue an NFT as a subscription and I hope it would have a nominal buying price.
